Evening Alice,
I'd agree you've done the right thing re the bcard, last thing he needs at his young age.
I could get used to the 3 day weeks too!! XxMummytogirls x0 -
HI Alice, wish someone had done that for me at 18, remember being so excited when I was excepted for a Barc card and feeling so grown up when I handed it over, how times change now feel embarressed when i hand over my CC as I'm thinking these people must know i'm in debt and this is my only way to pay.
I'm back at work next week and not looking forward to it at all. I will be counting down the 5 weeks until half term.0 -
Thanks mummy and pwps, I didn't want to feel like I was meddling but I don't want the kids to go through what we are going through, so far DS1 is very good with money.....just hope he stays that way.
I've done shopping list for A1di and sburys, and I need to get petrol. Will probably do A1di and petrol on the way home and sburys first thing tomorrow.
OH needs to pay lottery for work on Monday (should of paid today but he forgot!!), that seems to come around very quick!! Also need to pay childminder, so today won't be a NSD........not that I begrudge paying her, she's worth her weight in gold.
I've got £1.12 in my purse, don't need cash today as no chippy tea tonight, jacket potatoes all round.
Pegged out today and heating is off.
Right better get back to work. xxDMP with CCCS started Jan12 £34,906 Jan13 £31,893 Jan14 £26,836 Jan15 £21,894 Jan16 £16,839 Jan17 £14,415 Jan19 £12,938ish Jan19 £9,649 Jan20 £6612 Feb 21 0 Self managed from Jan'17

Hi FrugralMummy, might be a good idea to start a diary then people can help you out.
You could also start a spending diary lots of us find ths a great help as its easy tosee where you are over spending.
Take care.0 -

Hi FrugalMummy, congratulations on your new arrival. I agree with pwps in starting a spending diary. I keep all receipts and make a note of all spends - petrol, grocery, cash from cashpoint and what it is for, pets food (if applicable). The other things I would say being a new mum is don't get dragged into the hype of feeling that you need all the things in the m/care catalogue and look for 2nd hand things, babies aren't babies for very long and they hardly wear things out so you can pick up some great bargains (hope I don't sound patronising). Enjoy your little one.

I managed to do sburys, a1di and petol last night....go me!
I spent £68.73 in sburys, they did have the big box washing powder for £6 so got 2 (mind you now only says 45 washes per box where it used to be 50!!), £34.75 in A1di stocked up on cereal and freezer stuff that is cheaper there, then put £25 petrol in my car.
I also had to get £50 for childminder and OH's lottery which is £12, £10 for DS3s bus fare on Monday so got £80 cash, the £8 spare will join the £1.12 in my purse (once I get some change). I don't have anything I need to buy so lets see how long it stays in there.
How to spend nearly £210 in a few hours , that leaves about £23 in the bank after the mobile phone and council tax have been paid, just until OH gets paid next Thursday. phew!
Have pegged 2 loads out, just waiting for washing machine to finish then off to take DS3 to a party then watch DS2 play football.

Hi Alice,
Yay to you getting loads done last night. Its amazing how much you can spend in a few hours isnt it! On my payday I spend loads and I hate doing it aswell!!!
This week should be easy for you with your £9.21 in the purse and £23 in the bank!
Have a lovely weekend xxMummytogirls x0 -
Thanks mummy, I know I like to get all the spending done on the same day so it means I have more NSDs
. Which today was one too - NSD4.
Washing didn't quite dry so have had to put the heating on whilst the clothes are on the airers. Did manage to do some ironing that had been sitting there for a few days whilst the kids and OH made the beds, as they had stripped them this morning.
I've had a statement from S@ntander, current balance £1734.82, paying £11.82 per month.......could be here some time!!
Out of the £9.21 in my purse OH needs £3.50 for his football on monday. I can't grumble at that, he has given up having a daily paper bless him.
Off to chill on the sofa. xxDMP with CCCS started Jan12 £34,906 Jan13 £31,893 Jan14 £26,836 Jan15 £21,894 Jan16 £16,839 Jan17 £14,415 Jan19 £12,938ish Jan19 £9,649 Jan20 £6612 Feb 21 0 Self managed from Jan'17

My purse now has only 71p left in it......OH has his football money and I gave DS1 £5 for petrol as OH had had to use the car yesterday. I'm sort of getting used to the idea of having no or not a lot of cash in my purse.
Hoping I can hold out until Wed/Thur to get some cash and petrol, that would mean a few more NSDs.
As I sort of spent my money today I'd say I'm still at 4NSDs so far this month.
Kids back to school tomorrow so back to some sort of normality, not looking forward to doing packed lunches though.
Hope everybody has a good week. xxDMP with CCCS started Jan12 £34,906 Jan13 £31,893 Jan14 £26,836 Jan15 £21,894 Jan16 £16,839 Jan17 £14,415 Jan19 £12,938ish Jan19 £9,649 Jan20 £6612 Feb 21 0 Self managed from Jan'17
