  • EE thanks for your post it did make me chuckle.:) now how you feel re December birthdays, that is our 'busiest' month, what were folk thinking being born just before Christmas. ;):rotfl:
I often wonder why I did not consider birth dates when I had children as being a Xmas birthday is a pain in the rear, I should not have done that to my kids (obv DS was an accident as I was 15 but DD was planned but I didn't think it through)!!
Still no heating on....am I just being a martyr now?? Have woken this morning to all the windows covered with condensation...not good.

I think you are only being a martyr if everyone is freezing and you are refusing to put the heating on - if everyone is ok then that's fine. We put ours on again last night but only because DS had his girlfriend round and she was cold. Well she would be as she was swanning around in a t-shirt and a skirt with thin tights - it's too early in their relationship to tell her to wear more clothes:rotfl:
Can you believe I only did 1 load of washing all last week. making up for it today, got 5 loads inc bedding to do.:)
:eek:. I did one load in the week and never bothered to get it in so I have just had to put all the jeans on a spin cycle as they won't ever get dry outside and now they are on the airer. The temp here is about 8c but we still have fog hanging around from last night. There is no wind and no sun so I can't see my new load drying but I have put it out anyway. I am going to have to select my washing carefully this weekend and just wash the urgent stuff and do the rest in the week.

After I have finished this post I will go and buy an airer - never got round to it last weekend and now regretting it!!
DS would like a plystn 4 £350:eek: with some of the folk at work it's a bit like a competition to see who can spend the most. Like some of the dresses for the Christmas party, they are looking to spend £300 plus, and then there's shoes and accessories and heaven forbid they wear the same thing twice.....very wasteful......and blooming frustrating.
Crikey - I thought if he wanted a normal PlayStation or Xbox we have an old one the kids don't play with and he could have had that but unfortunately we don't have a spare PlayStation 4:rotfl:.
Your work colleagues clearly have more money than sense.
I have organised Xmas bowling again this year for work, it's great because if you dress up too smart you look a right twonk in your nice outfit and your bowling shoes :rotfl:so dressing down is the order of the day!!
Had a bit of a falling out with OH. I forgot to order something and now it means we have to pay a higher price. Instead of £14 it's now costing £36. Totally my fault I completely forgot. But when I realised and mentioned it to OH he just sat there and never said anything. I got really upset because I'd been so stupid and have now cost us an extra £20 and was 'tar and feathering' myself over it, he just said nothing. Even if he had got upset/angry at least that would of been a reaction. What I really wanted was for him to tell me it was going to be OK and that some how we would sort it out, but he didn't. I wanted him to put his arm around me and tell me it was all going to be fine....but he didn't. It's a times like this that I feel totally alone in RL (I know I've got you guys on here, which I couldn't do without :)). Trying to deal with this debt (in secret) and keep our relationship together is really testing.
Did OH keep quiet in case he said the wrong thing? Men can be tricky creatures to fathom out and my DH will often just keep quiet rather than get in to more trouble.
Could you talk to OH when you have a bit of time on your own and explain how you feel so he can react better next time?
I think dealing with debt can be very lonely as there are not many people you can tell.

DH and I have just made up after a 2 week argument - it wasn't helped by me running out of Agnus Castus (which help my hormones) so everything he did annoyed me greater than normal until I couldn't even bear to look at him. He has apologised for being a twonk although I do feel sorry for him as he has depression anyway and winter is a really bad time for him ( I think he might have SAD) and he mopes all the time and either watches TV or sleeps while I do everything all week and all weekend.

Sending ((((Alice)))) to cheer you up a bit

No sports club this morning so off to get some shopping, via cheapy shop, butchers and supermarket, and need petrol again.

    Xx

Hope the shopping went well and you are no back in the warm.
  • Awww thanks granny and EE, I don't why OH is like this now, he never used to be. I wouldn't say that I'm a needy person but sometimes, once in a while, I just want him to tell me we'll get through this and everything will be alright.:(

EE, feel for your and your OH now the dark damp nights are here.

DS currently has a xb0x360. But all his friends have either already got or are having a plystn 4 for Christmas. I know it's not the end of the world if he doesn't get it and it sounds like we're trying to keep up with the 'jones's' but you know.......:o

Yesterday before I went out I did put the heating on 18degrees. When we come back the house felt like a sauna.:) I decided to put it on to help get rid of the damp feeling and help dry the washing. Turned it off at 7 last night.....felt like a right rebel.:rotfl:

Spent £56 in sburys, £19 in cheapy shop and £18 in butchers. That does include food, cat food. cleaning stuff and toiletries.

This morning I've/we've put another 2 loads out(don't think they'll dry much but...), washed and vac'd the cars and prepared everything for dinner.

Also have done the meter readings, we have used £38 in the last 2 weeks. A couple of £s extra there, surely putting the heat on all day yesterday and the other night didn't cost that much??.

Also booked haircut for next week.:)

Totally lost count of any NSDs, think I'll leave counting them until the new year.

  • Well that's Monday done with.....feel like I'm wishing my life away.:o
I'm freezing tonight, can not get warm so I've decided that we might (only said might!!) put the heating on daily later afternoon early evening. I really don't like the house feeling damp and am totally fed up of having washing hanging about everywhere.....draw the line at putting the TD on though.

Met a friend last night....out on a school night tut tut....for a catch up. Worked with her when I first started work. Had a lovely catch up but in a way it made me feel quite sad as we reminisced about the old times, before debt!! Spent £9.

Swimming for DS3 is due this week, £38.

  • Thankfully it's OHs payday tomorrow. :)

Have been putting the heating on for a few hours late afternoon/early evening. I noticed the front door had started to get mould patches, I think from having the washing drying on the airers in the hall. Hopefully having the heating on that should stop now.

Have had a few NSDs this week(typical now ive stopped counting them), but food stocks running low.:rotfl:

Didn't pay swimming tonight (OH forgot bank card), will pay next week. Other spends Me and DS2 having hair cut this weekend.:)

Love all the talk about heating and washing.

Glad you have out your heating on, it doesn't make me feel so bad that I live further south and I had mine on :rotfl:

No seriously, I think a few hours a day is enough - I put the heating on Tuesday evening as the loo was cold when I saw on it :rotfl:and I knew I when it came to having a bath it might be even colder but then it got too hot so I switched it off :rotfl: and it has not been back on since. Tonight we are all at home so it might need to go back on.

I have got my airer - it's quite small and it takes about half a load so I am doing some washing most nights and it is dry within about 12 hours.

I have some bedding to dry so I hope the weekend is nice as I am not draping that over the airers and will not be using the tumble dryer - I am actually thinking about getting rid of it:eek:.

I wish I could see how much oil we are using as it might deter us from putting it on.

Just wanted to say that I'm glad you managed to get out with a friend - I never see you post that you have done anything for yourself so it was nice to read:)
  • EE I think we've got the heating just right now. If I know we won't be in and the weather isn't 'freezing' then I'll leave it off. Even DS2 said how nice it was to come home from school to a warm house.......bless, felt a bit embarrassed about that.:o

I'm glad you got your airer. Think we will have to invest in one. Had the airers up all week, although only did 2 loads. It's currently dry outside and a little breezy so have put the bedding etc out. Even if it just takes the edge of it it's a bonus. Hope you've managed to peg out too.:)

I did have a lovely time last week and you're right I never usually go out 'just me', apart from with work and we won't count that.

I really need a kick up the back side on the money front. Had an update from stepchange, current debt balance is £22,369 and we have paid off £12,700 (not including the car). This sounds really sad but I almost want to get Christmas out of the way so I can get on with getting this debt reduced quicker. Still thinking about self managing.

OH got problem with his DD for the car insurance. I cancelled it off the list by mistake (all it took was one click...oops). Last month he paid it over the phone and reset the DD up. But he's had a letter to say they are waiting for this months payment although the DD is back on the list but hasn't come out the account yet but was due on the 19th.

Yesterday spent £49 in sburys but that did include £9 on non grocery items. Also got petrol and cash for hair cuts. Have sent DS1 £50 for his 'pocket money'.

Just started to pour with rain whilst I typed so that's it the end of pegging out today.:(

We were going to put the heating on last night as it was quite cold but DH is not 100% as he had a tooth out the other day so he went to bed at 8pm, I went on the computer and by 8.30pm I was also in bed. Didn't seem much point putting it on.

Not sure if I have confused matters - the airer I got was just the gate style from Argos, it only cost £7.98. The washing is drying quite quickly. (I would still like a heated airer but the size of them and the short lead puts me off as I don't have a conservatory to put it in)

I did a couple of small loads in the week and got them dry but I had bedding still to do. I waited until this morning when BBC website told me it would be fine during the day so I did a load of bedding and have pegged out - then as we drove to town it rained and I was

I have left it out there for now and hope it clears up, if it doesn't I will put it back on a spin cycle and somehow drape them over the airers.

We are due rain all day tomorrow so no pegging out then either:( - I hate this weather!!

    Have a good weekend!!

You have done so well clearing that much debt :T
I am in agreement with you, I was just thinking if I didn't have to do Xmas the money I have saved could go towards my debt!!!

I like the idea of self-managing and being able to keep some back so you can save some money ready for full and finals. Remember when you are ready we are all here with help and support!
  • Yes EE I was confused! I thought you meant a heated airer. That's going to be my next luxury item. :rotfl:

I am sure that if we/I self manage we will pay it off quicker. It just sounds so daunting. I will have to read up on what's what first but will no doubt need folks help. ;)

Well managed to peg out again, airers now full, heating on low, spent £27 on haircuts for me and DS2, meatballs and pasta for tea.

Tonight I'm going to make a note of all the things I need to get for Christmas and an approx cost.
