In fairness to the homeless, it's rarely for money purposes that they would take a dog under their wing - a dog is companionship, warmth, affection and, if found as a wanderer, a kindred spirit, even.

In my area there are a lot of men begging in town. One of them has a female rottie cross called Lady, and the poor dog gets "rented out" between the men. Her owner will let any of his mates take her out begging, on payment of a couple of pounds.

Apparently whoever has her with them gets more than double what they'd get without her. She looks so pathetic sitting out shivering in the cold and wet weather, and has been trained to give a paw whenever anyone gives some money. Needless to say I can't pass whoever has her without giving something!

We have a beggar with a Cavalier King Charles who likes to sit outside M&S .... I always buy her a couple of tins of dog food when im in the area to give to him, and I have a dog coat here at home that isn't used anymore, and when im in the area again, im going to give him that too .... I always tell him to Love Her, and he says that he does, very much!
Some days I wake up Grumpy ... Other days I let him lie in.

I have no thanks button for some reason. I was just thinking though, whether posting on the Scotland section on this site may help.

This post isn't about Ruars, but me cursing life in general.

Sean is/was due home at 9ish at Inverness airport. His flight from Kuala Lumpur was late getting in and it's not looking like he's going to make the flight from Gatwick to Inverness. He's called them and they've said they'll TRY get him on but they can't guarantee it. So looks like he could be spending the night in Gatwick and the next flight back isn't until 3pm tomorrow afternoon!

If he doesn't mke that flight, I don't know what we'll do. I've held out for the past fortnight for him coming home, and now..

Sorry for ranting but I just needed him here.

Dammit- he's just text me and said the traffic is horrendous in London and he's not going to make it across London. I'm about to phone Flybe and ask for options. Really worried now

  • Ohhhh nooooo, I really don't know what to say :( (((hugs))) after all this time and I know how much you need him home.

If he can't get a flight the only thing I can think of is the sleeper train .... but it's not cheap (about £100) - would Flybe give compensation?

Don't think so rising..it wasn't flybes fault. It was bloody Air Malaysias. He's calling them now, while I'm looking at other options like the train. All flights from Gatwick to Scotland are full tomrorrow morning.

I want to just give up now

Just looked at the train and it leaves Euston at 2055. We can scrape uo the 100 quid for it.

I don't know Londond, if he arrived at Gatwick at 715ish- would he be able to get to Euston on time?

Oh no, Sazzy! I hope you can manage to sort something out. Could he get a flight to somewhere else (eg Manchester) and change there to a flight to Inverness?

Hey - if he can get a flight to Manchester I'll put him up for the night - I'm only about 20 minutes away from the airport by taxi. Seriously.

Hugs to you, and Sean too who must also be pretty peed off with the situation.
