im not being funny, but have you actually seen this black lab that was supposedly found and could not someone have made a mistake and it is actually a male.i know its clutching at straws, but someone has got their knickers in a twist somewhere and it all seems a bit funny somehow ?
Wouldn't surprise me. They don't seem the most efficient people. I'd be inclined to check it out. I have known - with my last dog - because he was neutered, therefore part of his boy bits missing, some people took him to be a female.
You wouldn't expect anyone working in animal rescue to make such a mistake...but you never know.0 -
Yes, the vet said it was definitely female, and the DW office said that as soon as they hear of a black lab, they all rush to look, and it was a girl.
Brumlae Brae kennels on the other hand- when I called- said they didn't know about it and it must have been 'in and out' so they'd no record of it- even though the guy didn't even take the time to effing look!-that's where the DW and the vet took the dog.
What was encouraging was that the tip off to Linda came from a Chief Inspector no less. He emailed his friend who emailed Linda..so Ruars has even the cream of Grampian Police on the lookout for him.
You know.. it feels like I'm chasing ghosts. Why don't they have ONE massive database for the authorities and kennels, that they can all access. Like doglost-only on a bigger scale? Or is that too stupid an idea? My brain is mush, but to me it seems sensible- after trying to get public sale of fireworks banned of course.
I just want my old boy back home- with me, snuggled at my side with Brucie draped all over him, and the cat washing his face.Ruaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x

I think if the sheer willpower of people could bring him home he would be by your side now.
Come home sweetheart, Mummy misses you badly x2 angels in heaven :A0 -
An actual vet on another forum I'm on admitted to opening up a cat and rummaging around trying to spay it before noticing that it had testicles. She seemed to think it was funny.
I can't imagine lots of people making that mistake all at once though, sadly.0 -
There must be a paper trail somewhere-surely written in a log. How can a dog just come and go like that."if the state cannot find within itself a place for those who peacefully refuse to worship at its temples, then it’s the state that’s become extreme".Revd Dr Giles Fraser on Radio 4 20170

I don't know ljon..although the dog warden just called me back and said that the owner turned up shortly after he picked the old girl up- so possible was just 'in and out'
He was quite sweet , he said he's got my number in his phone because the girls in the office have been nagging him about Ruars, and he'sa always on the lookout. Said his heart jumped when he heard of a stray elderly black lab, and sank when it wasn't our old man.
And you're right- if good wishes and positive thinking could wing him home- he'd have been home the next day. The amount of it willing him home is staggering.
Person_One, that's disgusting. A vet of all people
Saying that- when Saria (the original sazzybum) was a kitten, I thought HE was a girl, so he got a girlie name. It was only when he got to about 4 months old, I realized that he had a couple of growths under his tail........Ruaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x
