Is there a mountain rescue team in your area? Do you think they might be able to do a search if they have search dogs? I'm not sure, but it might be worth asking.

Why not ask doglost if they coud get a band of helpers to scour the area? I've heard of this happening before - volunteers turn up and scour an area, checking fields and ditches.

Fingers crossed that the newspaper article brings him home today.

I think by now my GP would be having to sedate me. You are doing so well but please take care of yourself too.

Thanks for the suggestions smiley. Thanks to the FB group- I'll need to look back on the thread to find out who suggested it and cyber hug them to death-there are bands of people out as we speak. It's so overwhlmingly amazing of everyone giving up their time.

If this goes on much longer- they're going to have to slip me something in my drink to calm me down. The pup is keeping me sane right now. He still has to be walked, fed and played with. The cats still need fed and looked after. I can't lose it- I'm all they've got just now.

Just reading the post about checking ditches etc reminded me of a missing dog near to me a month or so back. She had fallen down some sort of shaft close to where she went missing so definitely worth investigating if there are things like that in your area.

I know you mentioned earlier in the thread (or on the fb group - can't remember which!) that you contacted the dog warden in the next district - would it be worth contacting the vets in that area too? I've no idea how far away that is from you or how likely it would be that he would end up there but just another idea to throw out there!

Another thought I had last night was keeping in daily contact with the council. I'm not sure how to word this without sounding morbid but if something has happened to him and they pick him up with no identification, we need to make sure that everyone in that department knows who he is and who he belongs to. Not a nice thing to have to think about or do but I'm sure any one of us on here would be happy to do it for you and make a pest of ourselves! Also if they don't have one already, get a poster to them that they can stick up on their wall.

Right now, I would actually sell my soul to get your boy back home to you :(

I have looked on the above to find out the geography of Nairn. You have a great advantage in that he obviously hasnt gone north and probably not crossed the river that runs north to south. Perhaps you could study the map in great detail and rack your brain if there is a particular area in which he just might be hold up and go for a walk there ?

    Thanks all yet again.

The dog warden is based in Inverness, but the council offices which deal with it are in Nairn. The woman in there has been fantastic. In fact she just says 'Hi Aileen, any news?' when I phone. I call them twice a day. She actually printed off flyers herself and gave them to all the council workers too. The Inverness warden office already are aware of Ruars, as is the kennels the vets take strays to.

I'm looking at the map- and I can't see anywhere that somneone hasn't been- although we're covering them twice and three times..I'm at a loss to be honest now. I don't know of any shafts, but again- I'll ask around.

    Thanks again

Just another thought, when my hairdressers dog went missing it was caught down a rabbit burrow, now I know he is a bit big for that but bear with me.

They had friends with dogs that were used to rabbiting and hunting so took them out and searched the area. It was one of the dogs that found him 2 days later.

Not sure if you have anything like that around?
