I have a friend who many years ago took in a young cat who'd had its tail blown off by a banger tied to it. I can't comprehend who would do such a thing. What evilness is there in some people?

Kids like this, who find it amusing to cause massive terror and distress to an innocent animal, are the ones with the potential to be evil personified as adults.

In so many horrific murders, you will often find the perpetrator used to torture animals as a kid.

I'd tie the firework to a delicate part of that little thug's anatomy if I had my way, see how funny he finds it then!

Nearly got thrown out of Sainsburys the other day because a woman was at the fireworks counter, and i 'persuaded' her not to buy any..:o

No doubt she waited until I went away then went in and got her weapons..but not in front of me.

I've been having a hard time the last week or so as the anniversary gets nearer. Keep bursting into tears out of nowhere. It's so flipping hard to try not cringe when one goes off as I don't want to upset Bruce and Zelda. I don't want them scared of the noise.

I couldn't have got through the past year without the support of you all, and Ruaridhs Army on FB. When I was ready to falter-everyone picked me back up and kept me focussed. I read back the posts of the time, and there are so many of you-I wish I could thank you all individually. Just-thank you

  • Sazzybum, I've been thinking of the anniversary of Ruaridh's disappearance and am so sorry it's been so long.

One of ours is so afraid of fireworks, she won't go out after dark for weeks until it gets till about 2am and she can't hold it any longer. I just wish people could go to a single organised, community display once a year and be done with it.

I screamed at some idiots last night on waste land nearby trying to tie a firework to a struggling young cat's tail.

The cat got away because they'd thought they were unobserved and I yelled so loud they dropped the cat AND the firework.

I know one of the kids, aged about 12, and I've been round to his mother today to tell her what the little sh*t was up to last night.

She was horrified and I think he's going to be in real trouble.

    Serves him right. Little monster.

Well done to you zaksmum for not letting the feral brat get away with it. Scumbag

Well the dogs were out the back garden and a volley went off two doors down. I didn't know I knew so many swear words!!! Don't think those neighbours will be talking to me for a good while :D

Zelda thought they were something to bark at, not afraid at all, which is brilliant! Bruce however :( he shot into the house, tail between his legs and trembled under the computer desk. He ended up squished into the cat bed trying to make himself as small as possible :(

Bl00dy things- I HATE them beyond reason

Let my 2 out for a pee when I finished work and one of the really loud bangers went off a couple of doors away. Doubt I'll be able to get them out in the dark for months now!
Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree! :D

    Thinking of you, Aileen. xx

Some kids let a firework off near us a few nights ago when we were having our walk. They didn't aim it at us, they were messing around generally. It was only just going dark. Poor Bruno was terrified and if he'd not been on the lead he would have run off. He jumps now every time he hears a bang in the distance. I'm keeping him on his lead for our evening walk now.

    I hate fireworks too.

Zaksmum, good for you for shouting at those boys. I would have done the same - in fact I would probably have been arrested for breach of the peace. Little sh*ts.

The onset of November must be so painful for you sazzy. Thinking how normal your life was this time last year and how catastrophic Bonfire Night turned out to be.

I'm thinking of you and still praying for the miracle you - and all of us on here - so desperately want.

Anniversaries are always awful. My cats are now in until after November the 5th. And the neighbours cat will be catnapped too as she leaves them out every flipping year on fireworks night.

I saw a school boy running around after his 'friend' with a LIT ROCKET in his hand, trying to aim it at him. Whilst I never wish harm on most people, I think a minor and very painful burn would have taught him a lesson...
