Thanks for that link Smiley.. I read dogs today magazine every month. I've emailed them.

ZM you have no idea. I try not to cringe so as not to upset Zelda and Brucie, but it's so damn difficult.

I bought the most beautiful candle for him for November 5th. it's a big black one with a snowflake on the outside (he loves snow) and it changes colour as it burns. Was blubbing as I bought it. Got very strange looks in Sainsburys.

You know what, sazzy...I'm really admire you for using the present tense about Ruars, that he LOVES snow.

You will never give up hope that he will come home and like so many of us on here you keep the faith that he will do just that one day soon.

I for one will be celebrating when that day comes.

I had to share this with everyone. A lovely talented artist in Nairn just came to my house with a portrait she'd painted of Ruars. She said she wanted me to have it as a token of hope.

So touched, and still snivelling..here it is. It's so lifelike!

Oh how lovely of her Sazzy and what a nice gesture.

You'll have to put a candle by that on Nov 5th.

    xx

What a beautiful portrait. It highlights his lovely brown eyes so well.

I want so much to see this sweet old boy back home safe with his family.

So do I zaksmum, my lad is getting on now, not quite as old as Ruars, but when he comes in and looks up at me with his big brown eyes, I think of sazzy and a tear comes to my eyes thinking of the pain of losing him that way and not knowing who has got him and if he's happy, if he ever thinks of his lost family.
I know everyone says that dog's live for the moment, but they must remember the past, when dogs get lost and are reunited, they remember their family, they remember past bad experiences which make them frightened of things, so they must remember the past.

Lets hope that Ruars remembers his lost family and the first opportunity he gets he makes his way home.
Come home safe and well Ruars from wherever you are.

It's so painful to even think about losing them. My old dog was a bit of a one for the ladies, and if there was the merest whiff of a lady dog in season he was away like a shot.

He went missing once for 2 days and I was distraught, thinking of him hopelessly lost - can't tell you how relieved I was to have him found still having it away with the lady dog! Got him home and he slept for 24 hours straight, waking up only to lick his rather sore over used bits!

So it truly horrifies me to think what sazzy continues to endure. She's had the year straight from hell and like most of us on here I'd be ecstatic to know Ruars is home again where he belongs

That picture is absolutely gorgeous and what a lovely kind thought. Ruars is still on all of our minds and I am still hopeful that he will turn up and we will all have a huge celebration. I don't post on here much now but I read everything that is written and still think you are so brave and courageous, you must never give up hope - we won't.

As someone on here said, maybe the fireworks this year will trigger a memory in his mind and he'll do a runner from whoever's been looking after him and turn up home.

You hear of dogs finding their way home after years away and they do have the most amazing knack of sussing out the route to take.

My son's dog went missing once and found his way back to the house they'd lived in several years ago, crossing a lot of busy roads to get there.

    So there's always hope.
