''I don't know what you think guys, but I would like Ruaridhs Army to light a candle on November the 5th at 7pm, in honour of Ruars and all the missing dogs. People may think it is silly, but if it gives a grain of comfort to all of us who are missing our gorgeous dogs (and cats) then it's worth it.

Of course, think nothing of it xx

Oh Sazzy, that's brought tears to my eyes yet again, I always do want to start blubbing thinking of him out there and you not knowing where he is and if he is happy.
Of course we will light candles for you and all those lost ones, I bet there are many that get lost on bonfire night and the weeks before and after.
It will be easy for me to remember, its my dog's 10th birthday, he was a bonfire baby, don't know what time he was born though.

Keep your chin up and lets all say a prayer that Ruars will come back soon xx

Funnily (funny peculiar) enough- it'll be Ruars 12th birthday on 5th November Murph. Give yours an extra huge hug on that day from me, Brucie and Zelda-and of course the old man

Count me in, although it was in my mind to light a candle in my window in any case sazzy.

I do hope whoever has Ruars will get in touch with you sooner rather than later.
You are all in my prayers everynight, and I think of you all everyday.
You are one hell of a Lady sazzy, all through this you have remained strong and have helped others at the same time. xxxxx
RIP TJ. You my be gone, but never forgotten. Always in our hearts xxx

That's very true. Even in the midst of all your suffering and anxiety, you still find the time and the inclination to help others going through worrying times regarding their own pets.
  • The lighting of a candle is a great idea, count me in x

    Hello

It's Toby's Mum from facebook - I just stumbled upon this thread whilst browsing through other dog related things.

I really do echo what others have said regarding the way you have handled all this heartbreak. I look on the Ruars FB page every day and I must say that the page is always a comforting place to browse through.

I remember joining the group when Ruars first went missing and since then have avidly checked for good news and one thing has always struck me, there is not one post on there which is angry or negative, everything feels so positive and supportive and as others said what a credit to you that you have utilised Ruars page so that others who needed help finding lost pets have also been able to post there.

How my heart aches for you when I read about the reunited ones, so glad for them but also wish it was your turn - you have waited so long. My mum is in her 60's and doesn't use a pc but I told her about Ruars last year and she often asks if there is any news on him - quite poignant for her as we also had an elderly black lab when I was a little girl.

So, excuse all my rambling, but I wanted to say thank you to you for being a truly wonderful person, a totally unselfish and compassionate person who could teach anyone a good lesson about maintaining hope and dignity in times of despair.

Always in my thoughts and sending tummy tickles to your beautiful old boy, wherever he may be - I just hope he is back in your arms soon, where he belongs. xxx

I think you have summed up so well how we all feel about Sazzy and Ruars, I'm sure she will be along soon, but thank you for your hope as well.

Thank you jo, snivelling like a good 'un here now. I've been a bit tearful today due to the wonderful, overwhelming responses on here and FB for the candle lighting on November the 5th.

I managed to set up an event on FB for it..

;;On November the 5th at 7pm, we will be lighting a candle for Ruaridh and all the missing dogs. This will be exactly a year to the day and time that our old man disappeared from our lives due to unnecessary fireworks. He was denied spending his last years with the family who loved him due to the fear of these horrible yearly events. We want to have a string of light for all of the missing dogs, and hope they find their way home.''

I've invited all of the members of Ruars page and of course everyone on MSE.

People have helped us enormously, and utilising Ruars page to help others, helps us feel we are giving something back.

Thank you for the compliments-I truly am honoured and don't know what to say. I just know I couldn't have kept going if it wasn't for everyones support.

    Aileen

You would've kept going regardless. You're a hell of a lot stronger than you give yourself credit for.
