I completely agree with this. It is up to the parents to police their child's internet activity and if they're so stupid as to give the child a phone that would allow them unfettered access then they need to take responsibility.
I would say though that I'm on O2 and have never had to go to a store to prove I was over 18 in order to access whatever on my phone's Internet browser.
You should have - Im O2 and had to go in last year - or had to make a payment with a credit card. I know I got caught on 2 phones one after the other. They said at the time they were just rolling it out so maybe they havent got to your code yet or you already paid by credit card?0 -

And for the sake of the irresponsible eejits out there who really shouldnt be allowed an animal let alone be given the care of another human, those of us who are responsible adults have to have life made more awkward be be policed even more then we are??0 -

Nope, never paid by credit card. Always direct debit.
Maybe they're being nice to me as the nearest O2 store was closed two years ago and I'd have to go about 15 miles to get to another?0 -

I see what you're saying but that's often the way with things in life. the majority have restrictions due to the minority who abuse any privilegeLost my soulmate so life is empty.

I think most older kids buy their own phones and doubt they want to police themselves. also many kids have two phones - a one for mum to see and another secret one for them.0 -

And where are they getting the money to pay their data charges for these phones? It comes back to parental responsibility.0 -
I actually am in favour of the petition about topless models in newspapers. It wouldn't be okay to have a guy with his danglies hanging out in a paper, would it? However, if you have kids, you should have a net nanny or similar software that will block adult images and websites from being accessed by your kids. You shouldn't allow your kids unsupervised access to the internet if they're too young to understand the dangers of the internet (of which !!!!!! is probably the least worrying). Ideally you should select which websites you will allow your kids to use and limit their surfing to those sites. The solution to the problem of internet !!!!!! is not to demand that people inform their ISPs that they want to look at adult material. This is not a solution that helps anybody. For starters, what if you're a parent AND you want to look at !!!!!!? Do you phone up the ISP at 11pm at night "Oh hi, yeah I feel like a !!!! now so can you turn the !!!!!! back on please?"? Why should people have to embarrass themselves like that? The problem with your "solution" is that it seems to be directed at adults, not children. People have different beliefs about what is morally okay or not, and it should not be acceptable for you (or anyone else) to force their own beliefs on everybody else. If you don't want to see !!!!!!, don't look for !!!!!!. If you don't want your kids to see !!!!!!, don't give them unlimited access to the internet. If you don't want anyone else to see !!!!!!, tough! It's their right to look up videos of consenting adults doing naughty things if they so desire. If you have google safesearch turned on it's actually quite difficult to stumble across !!!!!! by accident. Unless you're a gynaecologist and you're looking things up for your work, I suppose.:coffee:Coffee +3 Dexterity +3 Willpower -1 Ability to Sleep

Legally anyone under 18 cannot sign up for a monthly contract, over 18 they are legally considered an adult and it's up to them what they want to view with their phone.
Granted under 18's can buy pay as you go but again responsible parents should be monitoring them. I'd like to see the statistics of how many kids actually have two phones. I highly doubt the average 16 year old would be able to adequately fund the data pay as you go charges to look and stream !!!!!! without financial help from mam and dad.0
