I'm out, it's like talking to a computer that is only programmed to understand one thing.
You think the majority agree with you while I would say the opposite that's what I mean by your understanding of what is the majority.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

Thats the biggest cop out Ive heard
My step kids are obviously from divorced parents and no matter how much they tried the playing off against each other it didnt work because as responsible adults, no matter what our feelings were to each other, we all had a duty of care for the kids and we pulled together and backed each other up.
This. My mum bogged off when I was 7. She tried a few things - but you know what? My Dad took an *interest* in what we were doing, he supervised us to the point of knowing what we were up to all the time - and most importantly, he taught us proper behaviour.
The 'playing off' doesn't work long term for a simple reason - kids aren't stupid. One day (maybe not immediately, admittedly), the blinkers come off and they see the silly game for what it is.
Being a single parent is certainly not an excuse for poor supervision of children. This is not an automated signature - I type this after every post.0 -
Eureka :j
So no more of this?
In saying thie above you suggest that you believe you have a duty to subject others to your point of view. I don't want to be protected but thank you very much for your concern.
I could equally say I'm being subjected to your point of view.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

Not so, you have the option to avoid !!!!!! and it sounds as if you do that very well. What I quoted above suggests that you think many of us are incapable for making that decision for ourselves, so you will make it for us. No thanks.
I'm not asking you to look at !!!!!! but you are trying to protect me from it. I currently have the right to make that decision for myself and want to keep it that way.0 -

I quite accept that you can make decisions for yourself. I just think it's a shame that my views are so disparaged.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I would suggest if you want to live in a place that has control over it's population to the extent of refusing free will, you move to a place like China or Saudi.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

Your views are fine, they are yours and you are entitled to them. I would be the first to defend your right to express them. But please read again some of your posts on this subject and you may see that you were not always extending the same courtesy to others?
And that is why you are being focused on so much.0 -

I know all about free will actually!;)
The majority on here is a self-selecting group and does not necessarily mean that it's the same in the general population.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

!!!!!!, like euthanasia is perhaps one of those issues where adults want freedom to make their own choices, but there is perhaps a legitimate need to protect the vulnerable in society?
Do we have any responsibilty as a society to society as a whole, that needs to overule the wishes/rights of the individual?
No man is an island and all that...
I don't think protection of children is just down to parents, because not all children are fortunate to have good parents.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0
