I see on the online news today the new apple i-phone will have naked playgirl bunnies without any controls on viewing, so guess the internet is the least of our worries for our kids!!! how can parents control kids phones?? unless apple intervene of course.

Depends what network they are on, orange automatically has safeguard on its phones, you have to go into the store with id proving you're over 18 to get it taken off, it won't even let you come on MSE :rotfl: It was a PITA getting it taken off, and i got badgered into buying another phone whilst i was there.

So i assume other networks might have the same safeguards

There has been a 'suicide girls' app since the iPhone first came out. It's hardly a new thing, had it on my own phone once :p

As for 'how can parents control kids phones??' the same way that parents have always controlled their phones - by actually parenting their children themselves and not relying on Apple or any other industry to do it for them!

I am very sorry, it was surfsister that did that, but you have come pretty close yourself, including calling it or the word inappropriate and just because it is natural, doesn't mean you have to do it.

You don't know anything about !!!!!!, you think you do, but you've never seen it! A very dangerous combination.

I thought you wanted to ban !!!!!!, so decide for other people?

Thanks for the apology. I am sure that we all do things which someone else could consider inappropriate.

I know enough about !!!!!! to know it's about at the most basic nudity and sex of people who you have no connection with and no relationship with.

The petition is about having to opt-in, I'm not aware that it's about banning it.

And again all mobile phone operators have free parental controls which restricts content.... Again it comes back to parental responsibility to switch them on

    That's very worrying.

    That's reassuring.

I agree that too many parents abdicate responsibility. Children should be able to rely on their parents but many can't.

Why are parents buying kids phones that can access the internet?

Surely the argument for giving a child a phone is so that you can reach them and they can reach you when need be. A phone doesnt have to have internet access to do that.

Once again we are talking a parenting issue

All net work operators need you to go in and prove you are 18 or over to get the parental control lifted and the BT portal has the same restrictions

Absolutely but not all parents are responsible.

I completely agree with this. It is up to the parents to police their child's internet activity and if they're so stupid as to give the child a phone that would allow them unfettered access then they need to take responsibility.

I would say though that I'm on O2 and have never had to go to a store to prove I was over 18 in order to access whatever on my phone's Internet browser.
