Im new to thisas well guinepig. My problem is I don't understand the abrieviations that some people use. EG OH, DS etc. I know they refer to family members but I can't fathom them.
My other problem is that each time I've added a reply I can't find where it was so I don't know if it has been useful.
I thought I was computer literate....up until now!

If you take a look at the "Welcome to Old Style" sticky at the top of the forum listing there's a link near the bottom that shows all the ones in regular use here.

Hello,
Quick question I've been meaning to ask.
Somtimes if I need an answer, I look in the indexed collection, but somtimes I still have another question to ask.
Can I ask a question in the indexed collection thread? and will it be seen on the forum for someone to answer.
Hope that makes some sort of sense0 -
Feeling a bit daft here, but where is the recipe index?
I have searched for it, and all I find are references to it, but not it itself!
If you are able to send me a link, that's fine, but I'd also love to know where to find it on the site so that I can find it again in the future....!

Hi, Linda! The indexed threads are just that, Indexes (Indices) of threads on each topic.
Please don't post on the index - pick a thread from it, and post there. That post will then appear on the front page of Old Style board, and someone will answer that.
If that doesn't work, or you can't find a thread you need, you can start a new thread.

Hi, Angie!
If you go to the Old Style Board, at the top, there's the OS Resource Bar. On that is a link to Indexed Collections. Scroll down to post 7, and there's the Recipe Collection.

Could anyone please advise me on freezing cream. I bought some double cream for some visitors and then they weren't able to come. I really don't want to waste it but it's not something I use very often. Can i freeze it?
Thanks zhari0 -
Can anyone please advise me on the best way to get mud out of clothes. My dd has come back from a school trip with a bag of muddy clothes  . I've been soaking and rinsing them but I've done this previously with other clothes and they are usuall still stained with brown after. I did a search and someone mentioned soda crystals, I have some in the cupboard so do I soak the clothes with a cup of crystals in hot or cold water or do forget the soaking and just put the whole lot on a hot wash in the machine?
Thanks in advance.0 -
Clutterfree wrote: »Hi,
I am just making a lasagne for dinner tonight and for the first time ever I am making an extra one to freeze.
After I have made it and put the cheese sauce on top I usually bake it in the oven for 30 mins.
Now my question is: when do I bake the extra one?
Do I bake it now so that when I remove it from the freezer, and defrost it, all I need to to is reheat it?
Just seems more economical to cook now with the other one.
Or do I wait for it to cool and then pop it in the freezer as it is and then when it is time for it to be eaten, defrost and then bake in the oven as usual?
Also, once frozen, before eating do I need to defrost it first (I think I do!) or can I cook/reheat from frozen like you can ready meals?
Although it is in a foil dish, if previously baked, could I remove it from the dish when it is frozen and reheat in the microwave rather than the oven?
Sorry for all these questions but I don't want my new OS ways to give my family food poisoning!
Thanks for any help!
i just logged on to ask this very same question. i love this site! think i will follow pink's advice, as i would prefer to heat it in the oven rather than the micro - cant beat that crispy topping!know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
