I usually do "poached" eggs in ramekins, make sure you !!!!! both the white and the yolk and then cover with a plate (to avoid the possibility of mess!). Cook for about20 seconds first, check and put on for 10 seconds more, repeat until done.

Re: scrambled eggs - I usually do three eggs whisked together with milk or whatever microwave on medium for one minute, whisk, microwave again on medium for one minute, whisk, keep repeating until it's done, reducing the time to 30 seconds and lower. This way you end up with lovely creamy eggs, not too solid. Can take a while to do but I find it's the best way and no messy saucepans, but rinse the jug out when you've served it or it will be difficult to get off.

After all this time I finally have a question of my own :)

I just got a water filter jug. I've followed all the cleaning and setting up instructions properly, honest.

So my question is - "Should I be able to taste the difference between filtered water and the water straight from the tap?"

Because I'm sorry to say that I can't.

I can't taste the difference either :) I figure that's a good sign...means you have good water to start with
  • can you make pies in a sc?

I don't think you can. Pastry needs to be cooked quickly at a high temperature, or it's not nice.

And the condensation will drip down, making the pastry soggy ...

squeaky, the other possibility is that you've got the wrong kind of filter, ie it's not filtering out the things you don't like. Boots do both hard and soft filter cartridges for that reason.

Thansk - I don't have 'teacups' but I do know what you mean - I might try the ramekin though! Will try both scrambeled and poached over the next few mornings!

    Thanks

It's a Brita and takes the Maxtra cartridges.

It says it reduces chlorine, limescale (carbonate hardness) [which is hard water innit?], aluminium, heavy metals (like lead and copper) and certain pesticides as well as organic impurities.

In an area with hard water it should do 100 litres.

My water is so 'orrible I really thought I'd be able to taste a difference.
