It's only been 6 years since we got engaged. It'll be our 11th anniversary to the date :)

Yay, congratulations! I feel like I've got so much to sort out as well!

It's our tenth anniversary on the 26th, but got fed up waiting for the stars to align. Now we'll always be have three day anniversary celebration!
  • Congratulations to you both and Yay for more August '13 brides! :D

How's everyone getting on? I still haven't got further than booking the church and reception. I feel like I need to be doing something.

I have done just about all of the major stuff... church, venue, cars, photographer, dress, suits, hairdresser, venue dresser & flowers are all booked and we are paying bits off each every month.
Have bought supplies for the stationary, they just need to be printed nearer the time.
Bought personalised favour boxes and have had samples for the sweets we are having, ordering them at start of next year.
Bridesmaid dresses are chosen (and checked they'll still be selling them next year!) will be buying next spring.
We've picked a jeweller, just need to choose the rings.
I've got my shoes & underwear. Bought my underwear twice as the first lot were too uncomfy while I was trying on dresses!
Need to buy my tiara & veil.

    Think that's just about it!!!

I'm glad I started early because I've gone back to work so only have evenings and weekends spare now.

Is anyone else really looking forward to this August so you can say "1 year to go!"?
 Been smoke free for 4 years!!
  • You're doing so well! I really need to get organised and do more! I know who's doing my flowers, although I haven't decided what I want yet, I have photographers in mind- no deposit paid yet though. We think we're having a vintage bus- again, no deposit paid :/ I do know what theme we're having so going to start buying favours and stationary soon.

And yes! I can't wait until I can say there's a year to go. :D

If it makes you feel any better, I am getting married the day after you and have only booked the venue and registrar. I am about to book our photographer but that's only because I know who I want as he did a friends wedding last year and the photos were beautiful.

Have finally decided on bookmark STDs to go with our literary theme so am going to get them designed a printed next.

Having a mare with the caterers. Out of 3 approved ones for the venue, 1 has already been booked, 1 has 1 spot left but prices are high, and the other looks like they won't do everything we would want them to!

Anyone got any experience of persuading venues to use caterers not on their approved list?

Yay, I can join the club,

We are getting married in France. So far we have booked the château and will be there from the 19th -26th of Aug, the ceremony will be on the 24th. So pleased I can finally say I have a date. We've been engaged for 6 months and all I wanted is a date and now I have one
    :-)
I really cant wait to start planning for it now.

I think the next step is invites, as its abroad I want to give everyone as much notice as possible. Do you think an invite and a link to our website (where all the info will be) is enough or should I send out info with invites?

    How is everyone getting on?

I had quite a weddingy weekend and we have now booked the caterers and I went wedding dress shopping!! Eeek

It has made it really exciting again. Although I am really torn between two quite different dresses at the moment!

Also have found a hair and makeup person and a band who we really like and might book them soon!

I bet booking the caterers feels great!

Despite me saying we would pay the venue deposits two weeks ago, we still haven't! I have got the contracts through though and went to my ma's house yesterday to pick up the money my grandma sent. So just need to print them off and get cheques made up.

Had a chat with my mother about what she wanted to contribute, should have seen her face when I said I didn't really want flowers! I think I'm going to arrange a meeting with my mum and the in laws as fmil wanted to make our cake, which my mum is going to do, and make my wedding dress, which my mum wanted to pay for! Ffil is doing all the catering which my mum wants to contribute to as well! It's all seeming insane about all the planning that I will actually have to do!

The only thing that is worrying me really is that my grandma is saying that she doesn't know if she is going to come! Apparently my mum spoke to her and said she needs to grow up and get here! Which I found quite amusing!

I've also emailed the photographer and she's free on our date! I did get a bit annoyed when I told the oh as he then went on to say that she was a bit expensive! I wouldn't mind except he has already met her from a wedding e was best man at and could have said something before I emailed her! I have managed to talk him around, I dabble a bit in film photography and it's something I really care about!

Maybe I should have posted this on the bridezilla thread?
