August 2013 Bride and Groom Chat

Hi everyone

I know its ages until the day but thought I would start an August 2013 thread as I'm interested to see if there are any other bride and grooms out there and how your planning is coming along

I'm getting married on Saturday 10th august 2013 at my local village church at 1pm then having our reception at a lovely local family run restaurant and hotel :T

So far we have -

• Booked and paid deposit for church and reception:T
• Found a company for chair covers and paid a deposit, this company will probably do our centre pieces too if she can put a reasonable package together for us
• Found a photographer and will arrange to meet to see his work
• Found a recommended dj and will arrange to see him too
• Decided on all our bridal party and most of the guest list
• I've bought my dress, it was such a bargain on eBay I had to get it!!:T
• I've started buying little bits like the ring pillow, favour boxes, guest book and pen etc

Now that we have the main things sorted I'm going to do the rest of the planning next year but I've made a start!:)

Hi Jewelleryfan,

I'm a 2013 Bride I'm getting married on 15th August 2013 so not far behind you!!

At the moment we have -

Booked our venue and paid the deposit
Booked the registrar and have a time for the ceremony
Met the caterers and provisionally put together a menu (deposit shall be going out on monday..ouch!)
Found my dress but not yet put any deposit on it
Mum has booked a DJ
Dad has booked and paid for a Bentley for us to travel in (Very MSE too!!)
We think we have found a photographer, just giving it some serious thought
Also fallen in love with a a videographer but still on hold on that one
Then we have just started to buy bits of decorations like a Mr and Mrs sign, rustic hearts, and little bits and pieces.

I'm thinking like you I'll try and leave the planning till next year but I'm really enjoying thinking about it all

I am also getting married on 10th August 2013. I like to be organized and so at this point, this is what we have done:

• Booked the church
• Booked the venue and paid the deposit
• Booked the photographer and paid the deposit
• Booked the wedding car and paid the deposit
• Chosen, ordered and paid half the balance of my dress
• Decided the colour scheme
• Booked the dj
• Arranged an appointment with a bespoke ring company

I have all the little things left to do, and am making all my own stationary, which will be time consuming but so fun! I have also decided the style of dress for bridesmaid but not the exact one.....we will decide for sure when my dress arrives for my first proper fitting, which will still be a year before the wedding! I agree with you both, it seems so far away. i want to get married now!!:A

I have so many ideas and things I want to buy but I have to keep stopping myself lol atleast in January we can say were getting marries next year!!

Decided upon the bridal party, know the dresses that i want to get them and what gifts i will get them. Alraedy chosen my wedding ring as well. Not getting along too badly with the planning.

Wow looks like the 10th is a popular day! Let's hope the weather is lovely

I had a bit of a vistaprint spend and bought 2 bannars, 100 save the date cards for day and evening guests, 30 thank you cards, thank you paper and envelopes, 140 return lable stickers and 100 place cards. It was all free so only paid postage of about £15 :j

I'm now officially a member of this thread... have just booked the church for 1pm on 31st August 2013

Feel like we're getting somewhere now! Have looked at 5 venues over the weekend, 2 were discounted straightaway (absolute hovels! one even had an Aldi as the view) 1 was perfect but the room was too small and the last 2 we're in turmoil over!
