  • Aaaaaaahhh!!!!!! I'm so excited! After being engaged for just over a year, today I booked the registrar and paid the deposit on our venue. I am sooooooo happy! I just wished everything was a little bit closer but unfortunately the wedding is not until 10th August 2013 at 2 pm.

So, how early is too early for dress shopping......?

  • Hi ladies,

I'm pretty new to all of this, been engaged for a couple of months and have just provisionally booked our reception venue for 31st August, now just need top book the registrar although I know some people have had mixed success in getting bookings in advance of the year (for giving notice) so fingers crossed that will be ok and I won't have to wait til august as I really want to get the dates confirmed now!

I'm so impressed with how much planning you guys have got done already - you can all be my inspiration!

  • Thanks for the welcome SaLoGo! nice to have a date twin already!
  • Can't believe it's less than 18 months now! I can remember when it was 3 years to go!!!

On the plus side, we have saved about half the money we need, so are well on track to have nothing on credit cards. Also my dress should arrive in the shop within the next month or so!!!!

I think it depends on the area of the country you live in as registry offices seem to be able to make their own rules up. We were able to book in advance but we have had to pay extra to do this- about £35 I think but a small price to pay consdering I've paid a non refundable deposit.

March already, only seems like 2 secs since we had 2 years to go....scary!!
    How's everyones planning going ?
So far we have tried to book registry office( but can't pre book till last week in June)
Narrowed colour scheme down to a choice of 2
Decided between a choice of 2 venues for evening reception( this is causing the most hassle at mo.. We're not having a sit down reception we just want registry office as late as poss then a big celebration with all friends and family at night, both places are local to us and we prefer one over other but not sure if it'll be too cramped :/ )
Asked my cousin to be my moh, and got a rough idea of what she will wear
Found a cake we love that a friend will make for cost of ingredients
And met with a photographer, who although is pricey than others we have seen does fantastic photos so think we will go with her
Still loads to think about but not sure where to start
Not dress shopping until next year as I have a fair amount of flab to lose but I do know I want something pretty but flexible(so I can enjoy our day without feeling uncomfy)
Looking forward to reading everyones planning

    So far we've booked...
    Church
    Reception venue
    Men's suits
    Cake
    Cars
    Photographer

    And I've bought...
    Card and bits for invites
    Favour boxes
    My shoes
    My undies

Off wedding dss shopping on Friday, can't wait!

My life-long best friend has set her date today... 4 weeks after mine! I'm actually really chuffed as I now have a real life wedding buddy! Not worried about stealing ideas/thunder etc as we are polar opposites and the weddings will be completely different.

  • Was down at my parents last week (I've moved up to the Midlands to live with my HTB but we're getting married down south where I'm from, so there's a lot of going back and forth!) so have put a deposit down for a videographer who's also a DJ, so that killed two birds with one stone! I went to the bridal shop to confirm that I wanted my dress. Have also set up an ISA today especially for saving for the wedding.
