Ha ha this made me laugh!:rotfl:

It was horrendous! It was the Park Inn at Wath Upon Dearne in Rotherham. It was a very nice hotel, but not a very nice wedding venue. The room was more like an office complete with grey walls, grey curtains, fluorescent lighting, and polystyrene ceiling tiles. The worst bit was the huge floor to ceiling windows all along one side that over looked the road entrance to the hotel and the Aldi across the road! Not quite what I had in mind for my reception venue! Even worse, they were about the same price as the 4* country hotel we think we're having

It was a shame because the rest of the hotel, rooms and bar areas were stunning.

  • We have a confirmed date: Friday 16th August 2013!

We're viewing our favourite venue again on Saturday to have another look around and check we still love it!

Am i correct in thinking you need to buy Wedding Insurance BEFORE you hand over any deposits or is that incorrect?

    I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited!!

Hi, just popping into this thread to lurk, hope that's OK!

Re Wedding insurance, you can buy it whenever you want to, but it's a good idea to get it sooner rather than later, as obviously you're not covered if your venue goes under just after you've booked it! I wouldn't worry about getting it before deposits are handed over though - soon afterwards would be fine too. Oh, and make sure you have a fairly firm idea of how much cover you need, ie how much you're spending on each aspect of the wedding. You should be able to alter your policy later down the line if things change though.

I'd look at it before as the wedding insurance I've just taken out wont cover any deposits that are paid before the wedding insurance is there.

I'm not sure if that sentence makes any sense! It has been a long day!! lol

  • Hi everyone

Thanks for joining this thread :)

Lovely to see other 10th August brides too :)

We went to meet a photographer and are going to book him so that's one more thing done!

Im such an organised person that most of the big things are done now and can't do much more until nearer the time :)

  • Hi everyone! I'm a 10th August bride too. Have booked the venue just need to pay the deposit now! It's so exciting!
  • Glad to see lots of other August 2013 brides and grooms! And your plans are coming along nicely!

I'm getting married on the 24th August 2013. So far we have...

    • Booked the venue and placed a deposit (we firstly booked a golf club but was put off by the view of lots of men in their shorts hitting gold balls all the way up the driveway! :rotfl:We have now booked a hotel for both the ceremony and reception)
    • Booked photographer and placed deposit.
    • Chosen my dress, but not placed deposit.
    • Chosen colour scheme.
    • Been practising origami with newspaper whilst at work on quiet Sundays so I can make some decorations!
Like most of you I think most of the planning will wait until next year. I'm in my final year of uni, and I just want it to go away so I can do wedding stuff!

Kinda feel left out being a 31st Aug bride lol! I'm sure some more will be along soon though :)

We've got loads done so far...

Booked church, reception venue, cars, photographer, men's suits, picked the cake and ordering it next month, picked BM dresses, bought favour boxes.

Just need to pay for it all now
