Yay, I can finally join a month thread! Venue booked for 31st August 2013! Got it the Friday too for set up :)
Got a tasting with a caterer Sunday, so hopefully that goes well and we can get that sorted! She was the cheapest by miles so OH wants to make sure she is good too and not just cheap but she sounds great to me!
Need to book registrar too, I see people are having varying degrees of sucess on the over 12 months thing so fingers crossed! Would be nice to know that is sorted. Then to make save the dates and argue more about our guest list!
  • I know its early but I am so excited because my dress is arriving in the shop next week!!!!

    17th August 2013 :)

He proposed 19th March 2010 but I've been part planning and part doing an extra long degree.

I'm currently living in France for a year so alot of stuff will be done when I return home this summer eg. Deposits etc.

But so far we have :

    - Church chosen and deposit paid
    - Shortlist of venues
    - Photographer chosen
    - BM dresses x2 bought
    - My dress bought (white satin)
    - Shoes bought (white satin to match the dress)
    - Veil bought ( waist length)
    - BM hair flowers bought
    - Wedding party chosen
    - On the 6 million-th draft of the guest list
    - Save the date cards bought (photos- snapfish.co.uk do an offer of 99 prints for 99p (+postage) so we done that :)
    - Wedding invitations designed (still to be printed)
    - Budget spreadsheets done :) (colour coded too :D )
    - Colour scheme - Red and white
    - A friend making the cake

    ONE PROBLEM I'M HAVING....
I've decided I want to do my own flowers but I'm having trouble working out how many bundles I want from the wholesaler of what flowers. I'm going to be making (with family help) all the button holes and bouquets and deccorations so I need to work out how many I need but it's not proving the easiest task. ANY IDEAS???

    Happy planning !! x

    So far we've booked...
    Church
    Reception venue
    Men's suits
    Cake
    Cars
    Photographer

    And I've bought...
    Card and bits for invites
    Favour boxes
    My shoes
    My undies

Off wedding dss shopping on Friday, can't wait!

My life-long best friend has set her date today... 4 weeks after mine! I'm actually really chuffed as I now have a real life wedding buddy! Not worried about stealing ideas/thunder etc as we are polar opposites and the weddings will be completely different.

I got engaged a while before all my friends but now I have two which are 4 months before and 9 months after mine and it's great because I have someone who cares just as much as me on the quality of the napkins I've just found etc :) x

    Hi All,

    I'm a 10th August 2013 bride too!

I only got engaged on Easter Sunday so I thought I was doing pretty well by putting a deposit down for the venue yesterday, but after finding this thread I feel like I'm way behind!

However, I did try some dresses on yesterday too, Ive never been so excited, I thought it may have been a bit too early to try them, but I'm so glad I did as it was so much fun and it means I can do it over and over again!

Anyway, I just wanted to say hi! :)

We only met our vicar and set the date last week so I have a bit of catching up to do. Friday we put down a deposit on a reception venue (exciting!!).

I've also booked a photographer and sorted out who'll do our flowers.

Argh I am having a dilema with colour. I don't know what to do...it's the first thing that's really been an issue in all the planning so far.

My dress is an off white colour, so not white and not really ivory. The bridesmaid dress colour is like a sage green and I intend to stick with white/green flowers like lillies etc for the decoration.

Now I am thinking about starting to plan my invites etc and am making them myself but am still unsure about what colour card to use.....white or ivory. of course there will be green on them but do I need an accent of gold or silver too? HELP :D

  • Well Im going to try printing my invites on grey so Im the wrong person to ask lol

Are you making your own invites, if so have a play around and see what looks best. If you're ordering can you get samples in different colours?

I agree have a play around and see what you like the look of. I think there is something typically weddingy about silver/ gold accents.

Ive just booked our registrar for the ceremony and with the questions he was asking it has made it feel very real!

    So now I have
Decided on a theme and colours
Booked venue for ceremony and reception
    Booked the registrar
and requested quotes from the two caterers

Still so far behind everyone else though

Next job is to decide on design for save the dates and invites and get save the dates sent out. Has anyone else sent theirs out yet? I'm nervous about sending them out too far in advance but know lots of people do!
