Ohh myconosray! Wow, that is a beautiful dress!
Yes, I am going for the red - I really don't suit white and although the dress comes in either ivory or the red, I thought the red showed off the detail tbh. And, I hope you are now feeling better! Not sure where this year is going and before you know it, weeks have passed!
Katy84 - wow a felt bouquet - that sounds interesting and very different! Looking foward to seeing that.
Sairz - welcome. 15 years of engagement eh? Congratulations on setting the date :)

  • Hey everyone, how are the plans going?

Just wanted to say that we are going to visit our venue at the weeked and pay the deposit!

Also, as we are getting married near Edinburgh and we live nearly 400 miles away, we are going to check out florists, places that hire out kilts, hairdressers and beauty salons too! :j

Can you tell I am excited?:D

  • Argh there was a letter addressed to myself and OH on the doormat on Saturday....from the wedding car company telling us they are retiring and giving us the deposit back as they are not honouring any 2013 weddings! I was gutted (and slightly annoyed) as we booked it over a year ago, as we did with many things so we got what we wanted for a better price without having so much to do these next 9 months.

Things are looking ok though, we found another very similar car with a local company and they happened to have our date free, and it's only £20 more than the original car so I'm not as mad any more!:p

Think on the positive side though, at least you got your money back ;)
I am a big believer in things happening for a reason.....:)

  • True.....we've provisionally booked with another company now and are popping to a wedding fair next weekend to view it and pay the deposite (hopefully...cos we like it!)

  • Glad you found an alternative :)

I had a lovely weekend, havent put any money down yet as we are unsure about the date (still in August, but we may change from the 17th to the 3rd). We did find our photographer and florist though :j

Also, I had some lovely news.....I won a competition in Wedding Ideas magazine:j The prize is laser eye surgery with Ultralase!:T

  • Hi everyone, how are your plans going? So far we have booked the venue (ceremony and reception), booked registrar and given notice, photographer, and I have my dress. Other than that we still have everything to do - not stressing (yet!) though.
  • Oooh Iloveascotsman - congratulations on your win! Do you know when you are going to have it done?

I have been concentrating on Christmas for the past few weeks - I need to send a box containing presents to family in Malaysia and Canada so that has had to take precedence. But as I have been doing some internet shopping for gifts, I managed to slip one or two wedding related 'bits' into my purchases **looks innocently up to the ceiling**.
I am waiting for the sales after Christmas to buy lots of the little make-up and perfume gifts for my BMs and the stuff like hipflasks with minatures for the groomsmen. Once we get into the new year, I have a feeling that time will fly and I would like to be a bit ahead. Though two of my BM's don't want to get measured for their dresses until February, just in case they over indulge!
Theoretically I should now be 10th on the list for the Tribunal to consider my petition for nulity of my first marriage so I am keeping everything crossed whilst at the same time trying not to think/worry about it too much...

Thanks! I am having the consultation on Saturday and then I presume that I will book the actual procedure then too.:)

I think for our favours we are going to buy lots of little Marie Curie pins as my mum died from cancer and it will be a way of sort of including her in the wedding, could I have (honest) opinions on this please?:o

I honestly think this is a lovely idea :) Could always have some sweets or something on the table too if you're not sure but I think it's a great idea as you'll be spending your money on a great cause not on tat!
