  • I received the following answer from Oak:
“I regret we will be unable to supply Natuzzi product. There is a possibility that they will supply these goods direct but we have no further information. Sorry...”

I sent an email to Natuzzi (using the contact form on natuzzi.co.uk) to find out if they have ever received my order but I do not have much hope to receive an answer.

I have also asked OAK for a telephone number for Natuzzi, let's see if they are going to provide it.
  • Following on, I've now had a telephone call from Oak Solutions, asking if I would like my order honouring!! They said they can deliver towards the end of January, but are obviously unable to offer any form of interest-free payments. They said that someone will contact me at the end of January to confirm an exact delivery date and at that point, I will have to pay the full balance via credit card....!! I still want my suite, but very reluctant to pay anymore money before the goods arrive...!! I'm going to keep my options, I think and if in the meantime, I'm fortunate enough to be able to get my £500.00 deposit back, then I shall just cancel & go elsewhere.

Has anyone else had any phone calls or e-mails?
  • The Guiseley shop is open and is running a closing down sale.

In September I put down £340 deposit for two chair. The order is not going to be honoured and Oak Contract Solutions has refused to refund my money.

I went into the shop yesterday and saw a chair identical to the one we had ordered. It is in the sale, and if I wanted it I would have to pay an additional £250 for it.

    How can this be legal??
  • Sounds like so many people are experience the pain.
Like all other we have also paid out right for a dining table and chairs on credit card.
I have been through a process year ago when a company goes into liquidation and it can take ages.
I have requested that the amount I paid goes into dispute with the CC company, does anyone know low long it takes?
Also if I order my furniture from someone else and oak contracts come up with the goods can I decline the order?

    Thank you
  • Also received a call and an email asking if I wanted my order honoring but I would also have to pay the balance by card or cash. No date given but will only pay on receipt of goods and certainly not before!!

I assume you paid the deposit to John Peters who have been liquidated. All their assests were sold onto Oak Contract Solutions they may be the same directors, but in law you paid JP ltd and not Oak Contract Solutions, as Oak Contract Solutions is a different business/company then they owe you nothing as you paid them nothing.

this is wrong, but perfectly legal

how it is not legal they paid the deposit to JP ltd so Oak Contract Solutions owe them nothing as they are a different company.

this is like you going into Asda give them £100 for shopping and then going to Tesco to get your shopping as you paid £100 to Asda for the shopping.

In that respect no of course not, but it sounds like the new company is applying a different pricing policy to customers who previously purchased items under a different company.

    That surely is illegal?
  • I am not saying he is innocent, far from it but there are other factors to consider.

There is an old saying, 'A manager is only as good as their staff', maybe this applies to you.

I paid a visit to John Peters York this lunchtime. There wasn't a Cussins in sight but the 4th Director, James Bartle was there doing deals with customers, buying the bankrupt showroom stock.

There was a lovely white 'NEW' Audi TT parked where the staff usually park mmmmmmmm!! Why was a director from the failed company working in the store, selling his own stock, very odd !! ??

When my business went under earlier this year I was asked to call in for a meeting at 9:00am, hand over the keys, point to the necessary paperwork and asked to leave. The staff were kept on, just to sell off the bankrupt stock.

I would advise all JP customers to not pay for anything unless on a credit card as even after you receive the goods you wont have a guarantee, but with the backup of your credit card, you will have some rights in the event the furniture is faulty.

Do remember to haggle, they need your balance more than you need the furniture, ask for a discount, its worth a try. Your order (contract) is with the old John Peters, they are not trading any more its the new company who are honouring sale.

    Regards
