Aslo if oak contract solutions ltd have purchased/taken over all assets and orders from John Peters (BUSINESS DREAM LIMITED) then as they are classed as still a dormant company then they are breaking the law as not declaring them as a trading company to HMRC and Companies House.
It also seems stranger that O'Haras seem to be in the middle of all this and actively allowing a dormant company to take assets of a liquidated company also owned by same directors.0 -
im in the same boat as a couple of you guys, £400 deposit paid 5 weeks ago and got the letter yesterday.
I have emailed the help@oakwood address so am waiting on a reply. Will let you know how long this takes and what they say etc
Gonna give the bank a call and see if can get the money back but was on debit card (should have known better) so not sure that will work.
Found out more on here than from the letter i got! tanks guys and gals0 -
We ordered some chairs from the Guiseley shop in September and paid over £300 deposit - not by credit card unfortunately. We realised early on that the company had gone into liquidation, and contacted O'Haras to receive the same platitudes about orders being fulfilled by the new company, in order to retain goodwill.
They assured us that the worst case scenario would be that we would get our money back. We e-mailed Oak Contract Solutions Ltd and they told us that the supplier of our chairs was in China, and that they had cancelled the order. They made it clear that as they had not had the 'benefit' of our deposit they would not be refunding any money. Odd, as Oak Contract Solutions has at least one Director (John Cussins) in common with Business Dream Ltd and John Peters Ltd. Strange behaviour from a company that wants to retain goodwill. Has anyone contacted the media? Any plans to take action at the shop when it re-opens?0 -

I predict a riot, its !!!! poor really when you think about it, even if we get furniture then what about the warranty and i wanted to take the care package out just in case. dunno what to do0 -
I also purchased items from John Peters in York back in August and received a letter yesterday advising of the liquidation.
The liquidation of John Peters and subsequent registration of Oak Contract Solutions by a former director under current trading circumstances stinks of illegality. I spoke to York Press today and they were very interested in the developments, (they broke the story on 31st October) especially as this is not the first time this has happened under current management.
I just feel really sorry for those who have paid and not received their goods, best of luck to those who used debit cards.
I'll update the forum if I also receive anything from the dubious yahoo email address.

Something smells bad in Doncaster, New Company , Same Director , Dormant trading Status, Connection with liquidator ??
Am pursuing Charge back with Visa/N'west and also waiting for "new owners" to provide the help they say is forthcoming , Not holding my breath. Final suggestion when else fails = dom@flametv.co.uk0 -

I don't hold out a lot of hope at all, with the Yahoo e-mail address!! You'd at least have thought they would have set up a proper company e-mail address. It would have instilled a bit of confidence, for me, at least!!!!
We've already put in a chargeback request to our bank, but heard nothing yet, not even an acknowledgement. Also, as per advice on here and from Consumer Protection (Trading Standards), I've also written to the finance company, hoping to try & claim against Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974.
Will keep you updated as things move along...... I'm sure there are plenty of us, in the same boat, that can hopefully offer help & advice along the way.:)0 -
We paid £1230 deposit (unfortunately by debit card) for a suite in July, due for delivery this month, I e-mailed Oak Contract Solutions on Tuesday and this is their response, received today.
“I regret we will be unable to supply Natuzzi product. There is a possibility that they will supply these goods direct but we have no further information. Sorry...”
Not the type of reply you would expect from a company that wants to retain goodwill.
We also set up interst free credit with the store for the balance, this has not started, payments were due to start when we recieved the goods, but not sure what will happen next.0
