Don't cancel the finance agreement just yet!
It will be worth looking into whether you can use Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 to recover your money using that finance agreement.
Have a read of
If that's not possible, then as mentioned earlier the Debit Card chargeback scheme should work.
This is also described towards the bottom of that article I linked to above.
There are also two sample letters, one for section 75 and one for chargeback, in that linked to document that you might like to use.
That's very interesting and definitely worth pursuing. I've just had a read of the article together with my finance agreement and it does look as though there maybe a possibility of reclaim. It's worth exploring all avenues, so to speak.... I shall write a letter to the finance company and go from there. Thanks for the advice!:)0 -

Yeah, the website is still up & running, as you say, but there's a notice about halfway down the homepage, stating that they have gone into liquidation and they are not taking anymore orders. I tried ringing all of their branches and there's no answer from any of them. My husband drove down to our local branch and there's a scribbled notice on the window, saying "Closed for stock-taking"........!!! That's a new word for it anyway.....!!??0 -
The staff were probably told that it would be a late start - for a stock-take! And the administrators/liquidators will indeed start by doing a stock-take to work out what goods they have to liquidate!0

Nice way to treat your staff.......!?!?!? but don't suppose they'll care now.......!!:(0 -
We ordered a dining table and chairs from the York branch on the 16th September and paid in full with my Tesco credit card. I tried ringing for an update on delivery yesterday to find it John Peters had gone into liquidation. Thanks to the help on this website it has reassured me that I should be one of the lucky ones to get my money back or even maybe my furniture depending on whereabouts it is on the ordering chain. Tesco were great and have said that I will 100% get my money back but not sure how long. By law if you purchase with your credit card you are entitled to the goods or a refund so the bank has to pay. Tesco said how they pay and where they get the money from isn't my concern but I will get it back. They are sending a form to me to fill in and will do the necessary. The only thing is they are not sure how long it will take and I daren't buy another dining set in case I eventually get the original one ordered. So sorry for anyone that has paid in any other way, at least I know I will get my money back at some point. A lesson to be learnt again about credit cards and debit cards etc.0
