Not the type of reply you would expect from a company that wants to retain goodwill.
We also set up interst free credit with the store for the balance, this has not started, payments were due to start when we recieved the goods, but not sure what will happen next.
if it was a visa card then you can do a chargeback, take all evidence that they wont supply goods to bank and get the ball rolling. also contact finance company and cancell any agreement again provide the evidence that they wont supply goods.0 -
I have spoken with my CC company and they agreed to refund the deposit that I paid for my sofa. I have also tried to contact Natuzzi to see if they have ever received my order from John Peters ( I doubt). I will let you know if they reply to my msg.0

Hi, i used to work for John Peters and it is very unlikely that you will get your furniture, i ordered bedroom furniture and they are not going to supply me!! Also natuzzi are one of the reasons that the company went into liquidation so thet are very unlikely to supply the goods, especially as most of the orders had not gone into production. One of the reasons for this is that John peters did not pay them as they required 50% payment. All in all the are the worst company i have ever known and i hope people will learn and not buy from the stores that are clearing stock. I certainly will not be going to grab myself a bargain, because guaranteed you will find things cheaper!
If you would like any questions answering then i am happy to help if i can.0 -
Oak Contract Solutions still haven't replied to my e-mail, I was going to contact Natuzzi to see if I they had made my Sofas but couldn't find any contact details for them. My husband spoke to O'Hara's about the company not being active at company house and was told that it's perfectly legal and the company can be reactivated with just a phone call. I am not holding out much hope of getting anything to sit on before Christmas.0

I am sure that John Cussins is staying within Company House rules but isn't it time he was struck off as a director? Having failed to run successive companies and defrauded both HMRC and numerous creditors (even if they are in China, they are still trying to do business!) by writing off debts let alone possibly taking deposits knowing that the goods might never be supplied, is surely a case for investigation. Put the idea to some Yorkshire journalists to start probing around, if I were you.
It might also be worth asking the question what were his two sons, Ben and Nicholas, doing to help run the company into the ground. Both married recently and both have been on expensive holidays in recent years.
And who has put up the money to buy the assets? They normally hound their (divorced for many years now) mother for money, expecting her to bail them out. Whoever does it has surely lost a packet.0 -

they are wrong. a Dormant company cannot trade. they need to contact HMRC and complete a form to say that you are trading and this has to be posted to them, as they need to register for corporation tax.
i have 3 dormant companies which i set up to protect the business names, i cant even open a bank account in any of their names as this is classed as started to trade and have to inform HMRC first as this involves corporation tax0 -

that would be the Cussins
you can set up a ltd company and normally get issued with a share which is normally valued at £1 . this is your total liability to the company as a director.
so you start trading and start to fleece people out of money and then fold the company, then you hand the administrator your £1 and share. thats your liability paid, you may have amassed millions, but your liability was £1.
then you just set up again under a new ltd company and do the same thing.
this is a common practice with cowboy builders.0 -
Funnily enough, I've received a reply to my e-mail from Oak Contract Solutions this morning, worded as follows:
"Thank you for your mail. We can supply the goods but am afraid we cannot offer interest free credit. You can either pay by credit card or in cash. Would you please let us know if you wish to do either of these? Thanks..."
As you can see, it's very short & quite curt. It's not signed off by any named person, which is not good business practice....!! I am VERY, VERY wary of sending any further money, so I've suggested to them that if they can supply the goods, then I will only pay the remainder if they will accept CASH ON DELIVERY. If they want more money from me before the goods arrive, then it's a definite NO-NO from me.....
What does everyone else think?0 -
I worked for John Peters also.
What nobody is mentioning, back in 2007 when they last set up there was a fourth director, Mr James Bartle who owned Cassamass (a Furniture importer), The Northern Pine Warehouse and The Big Bed Warehouse at Thorp Arch Wetherby. Aquiring the Dining Room Centres at Leeds (opp Christopher Pratts) and the one at Bradford Road Cross Roads (later to be a JP Store).
When he joined JP many asked what was going on as he was often bailed out by his father who was ex motor trade and owned half of the property on Skipton Road including the Bingo Hall of the same address, as he couldn't hold a company for long. Jamie also owned the Sheffield bed centre that was allowed to go under to supply stock for his thorp arch store, big bed.
John Peters as a company was and are plagued with anal Store Managers, Sales Staff, Office Staff and Warehousing mainly amounting to jobs-worths.
The staff who worked for the customers and the health of the company were often quashed under the attitude of these people. This included theft even on the level of managers, one manager thought it his right to take dozens of cases of wine home for himself that were intended for use in store as courtesy offerings to customers during promotions in addition stock disappearing from warehouses.
These people make running a business a challenge in this economic climate we can all do without.
I feel for the staff who deserve a secure job and the customers loosing out. People must remember credit card and visa debit give security over £100. Why some people still use cash is beyond me and questions should be asked of them.
I doubt Natuzzi will return any contact as orders are compiled and as such your sales order number will be different to JP's purchase order.
Natuzzi, again are not the easiest leather supplier to deal with. They treat retailers with very little respect and quality is not what is portrayed in stores.
Sorry to go on but JP as many other retailers has its faults but there are others who could also take the blame and responsibility for the situation JP is in right now.0 -
