Please can I ask a silly question? Are your potatoes peeled with a peeler (or does this make them too thin) or with a knife (so they are a bit thicker). I'm going to try them later on today!!
I use a good ol' fashioned Lancashire peeler to peel all my Potatoes/veg and as far as the rustic crisps go just keep an eye on them as they cook - but I have been to posh pubs/restaurants in the past(they were the days) where potato "skins" were served with dips - and really all they were as you described , thicker peelings deep fried.
In fact another "naughty" side dish is double cooked jacket skins. My DD2 hates the skins of JP so I slice them into wedges as she leaves a little spud on them and if you quickly deep fry, serve again with dips -delish and very calorie laden.:rotfl:
Had quiet a succesful day or two in not wasting food - sorted out my baking cupboard pulling out all the opened packets and using the quatered left over oranges (from footy on Sat) and the going off banannas managed with baking cupboard stuff to make a bannna, pecan and almond loaf and orange and cocconut cake.
Plus I managed to use rest of the oranges that were cut up in a "orange, prune & date chutney". Now have 5 jars full ready for Christmas presents! So got rid of the opened mixed furit dates and prunes that have been hanging about for ages.woohoo!
Yay! I love this challenge...thank you all so much it's really making me think about food wastage.Crazy Clothes Challenge 2012 £57.20/£100,CCC 2013 £68.67/£100 ,CCC 2014 £94.32/£100

I have to add 4 rashers of bacon to my total for Nov, found them skulking in the bag of the fridge last night! I was mad as I love bacon butties for breakfast; I'm counting that as 80p, I think that takes my total for the month to about £2.00... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Hallooooo!!!! Well done everybody-peeps
Tonight I made lamb neck casserole/stew (what's the diff? Always wondered) with whoopsied lamb neck pieces, sad looking carrots, a neglected half of butternut squash, HM stock and some frozen "stew mix" veg.Served with rice as no spuds in da house.
That went down well, and with the remaining gravy and veg I made a smooth soup for Thursday's lunch for m'self and Hubby by blitzing it, reducing it quite a bit and then adding lentils. Cooked them and then blitzed again. Alchemy AGAIN!0 -
Morning all
Hokay... I'm not anticipating any waste for today so my total for November is £5.26.
Well, plus the 0.000000001p for cake crumbs
First thing tomorrow I'll put in a big marker post for December and link to it from the first post in the thread.:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T
Well done everybody who joined the challenge. No matter how well you think that you did or didn't do - the mere fact of keeping an eye on your food waste has, I'm sure, been of some benefit to your budget. If not this month, but next month; and the month after that... and the month after that...:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:TDon't forget to join the December Grocery Challenge and work on your budget from both ends!
