So it's when we had sex and not started a relationship that counts ? Will we be able to claim his benefit for the days we don't have sex ?

Literally the best thing I have ever read on the benefits board :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Thanks OP

Whoops sorry I didn't know we weren't allowed to laugh.

I was just laughing at some of the replies not the situation.

    Have fun!

Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
    And we were young.

Your new partner simply signs off the benefits he is no longer entitled to. He doesn't have to go into details about your relationship so I'm not sure why you are worried?

That's a good point. Questions are only asked when you sign on, not when you sign off.

Their only too glad to get you off the register.

You cannot prove that you weren't and they cannot prove that you were.

Getting back to the serious point...

Yes this is true. I have actually had to go through the "Miss Badger, please demonstrate that you are not in a relationship with your benefit-claiming lodger" before (and note to OP: your LA isn't very enlightened - I had to prove this about a girl ).

I simply had to describe how we had met and decided to live together. In our case, the young lady had applied for the room via Gumtree and been through an application process along with several others... she had a room inventory and houseshare agreement in place and she had been claiming benefits prior to moving in with me.

The LA were happy with that.

It's perfectly legitimate to then say that, after meeting in this fashion, you discovered an attraction and formed a relationship, and I would expect the council to accept your honest change of circumstances.

It's the right thing to do :p

But next time you rent a room, throw out the beanbag...

In this thread you start by worrying that your new landlord might take advantage of you...
