  • Could anyone advise me please: My son and I had the 2 user Office programme. My hard drive failed totally and has had to be replaced. Contacted Software4Students to check that I could re-instal Office to the new hard drive and bascially they said no!
SO......I assume therefore that should you buy a new laptop/computer, you will also need to re-purchase the software. REALLY fed up! As if having to buy new op system, hard drive etc wasn't enough.....
    Any advice gratefully receieved.

They are talking rubbish. Replace the hard drive, reinstall Windows on it, then Office, using the product Key you already have. When you try to activate Office, it is unlikely to object, but if it does you can ring Microsoft, tell them what happened, and I would be amazed if they didn't give you a replacement Product Key.

PS just reread your message again - who said that you had to buy Windows again? You didn't need to...
  • Thanks John- will try to re-instal. As for Windows: when I bought laptop, I was not given a disc for operating system - PC World for an Advent laptop so had to buy that too!
  • Also, the hard drive was totally corrupted so I lost absolutely everything. :(

If you have the Windows license key, you should not need to buy software.
