  • Hi MU, just been reading your thread and all the support these lovely people have given you. I'm not sure I can add to it, but I will be watching your progress and thinking of you.

I was very moved by your story and want to say that I can't wait for the day that your user name gets changed from "Messedup" to "FantasticSurvivorMum&Partner". Cos that's what you are. Always remember -

Have you settled in to the new house now?

One thing I thought I would mention regarding your horrid phone calls with Lloyds is that you should never be afraid of complaining, politely of course, in writing. If you can give a date and time of your call, they can look into it. If you use wording along the lines of "I believe your customer service training could be improved" etc and to point out how upset this made you feel, then they should at the very least apologise. It also shows your strength and that you will not be fobbed off again.

It may even be that you get £50 compensation for your trouble. Bonus if so! In any event, the feeling of being in control for you is compensation enough.

You have nothing to lose by doing this, and it may give you a little bit of satisfaction along the way.

  • Hi Everyone, hope you all had a good day.

I have almost settled in my house ..... not. I am back to work next week.

I had an email this morning from a reporter for a BBC current affairs programme being researched. She is phoning me on Friday, I couldnt speak today as I feel to raw about things so I told her to read my story at MSE which she has.

Feeling down but hopefully work nxt week will be a distraction in itself;)

Sorry to hear you're feeling down today, I expect the move has unsettled you even more. But ... chin up ... you've started dealing with your debts and it can only get better from here. So give yourself a little smile - even if it's just a little one :-)

    Hi MU,

As you haven't posted for a few days, just wondering how you're doing. I expect you're busy unpacking boxes and getting settled into your new place ... hope you're ok.

    Hi MU

How did you get on with the reporter?
  • Hello Everyone....

Well I have had a busy week wallowing and thinking and worrying....was back to work yesterday, so it is a thankful distraction, I was considering taking a 2nd job on last week but being back yesterday and on my feet for 10 hours I realise I just couldnt manage it.

Well I wanted to pose a quezzy. As you know the extent of my debt I will just reiterate it..

    Lloyds Loan 10300 .... 213 pcm 45 months left
    N Rock 10000......129 pcm 115 months left
Lloyds cc 5400.......120pcm minimum payment interest
    Lloyds od 3500.......50pcm interest
    Lloyds Od 5400.......70pcm interest
    v Cc 4100...... 100 minimum payment

    total debt outgoings 673
    total personal outgoings 260

As I dont deal with the household budget and after my car food etc paid I have on average 300 pcm to clear debt.
Bearing in mind this is living very tightly but the fact that with each 300 pcm the interest will slowly reduce etc......

DO YOU THINK ITS POSSIBLE TO CLEAR.

The thing is I dont think I would qualify for IVA as the virgin cc is in my partners name and therefore I have only 2 creditors, I went to an IVA claculator and they told me I didnt have enough income .
Also I do not want to risk DMP as the interest is not always froze and I would probably end up paying just a little less etc..

I really do think it is possible which is why I am not in panic mode...I am lucky that 20000 of this debt is controlled by relatively low interst loans.

    I am v impatient.

I couldnt face speaking with reporter when she phoned I am at a very very low point at the moment.

    Any opinions

Hi Messed up, why dont you try putting your debts plus the ammount you woul be able to put to payments+overpayments in the snowball calculator and see what progress might look like over the next few years for you?

it might map out exactly what you are in for more clearly?
