I have a sofa that is in fab condition but it is just too big for my cottage. So, the OH has bought me a smaller one for christmas. I have tried everywhere (including freecycle, who are VERY fussy) and no one wants to take it. It is too good to throw away but I could be left with little alternative at this rate. Any ideas?

    The furniture project?

And https://www.ilovefreegle.org which is the UK breakaway version of the American Freecycle.

Try Gumtree and put a price on it may make it more attractive if people think its worth money rather than free?
  • whoohooo :j:j my tooth is out and no more pain :j:j

After seven nights of no sleep and copious amounts of painkillers I have decided I am going to go back to bed for a little snooze. Lazy this may be but on the plus side I won't be spending any money :)

This week has now become blinkin expensive.....£17 emergency dentist, £7.40 prescription and today £45 to take the tooth out :eek: I should have taken hubby up on the offer of a bottle of whiskey (can't stand the stuff) and a pair of pliers :rotfl::rotfl:

Redlady have you contacted your local womens refuge - I know our local one takes in furniture to use when they eventually rehouse their residents, also my dads church regularly get desperate requests for furniture and he is often scrounging around trying to find stuff so maybe worth contacting your local churches too.

    @ redlady

All those links posted say that any furniture has to have the fire safety lable still attached. I can see they are covering themselves, but in the interests of recycling it seems a bit daft doesn't it? Especially if someone could make use of it...and it's obviously not really old. Have you checked on all the cushions to see if there is actually still a label attached inside somewhere?

  • Just a quick question while the bones are bubbling away making some yummy stock:D

How much liquid do you usually add when making stock?

I usually end up with around 1 to 1.5 pints from a chicken carcass but it's quite strong so I can dilute if needed when I'm using it.

I've added a bit more liquid today and it looks fine so far but just wondering how much everyone else put in? TIA

I will have a nose thanks everyone and try and find either a label or one of those places. It just seems utter madness when it has years of wear left in it. The thing is it cost me a fortune as I have to have a really good one for my back.

redlady - stick on ebay - we have managed to sell stuff that charities wouldn't collect - as a pp said sometimes people think something must be better if they pay for it!
