Hopefully I will get a Sainsbury's till spit for money off before I go there because they accept those as well. My ambition is to get as much useful/storable stuff from them as possible for as little actual cash as I can get away with

sorry to be the bearer of bad news but as of 31 october 2011, Ts have stopped accepting Competitor's conditional spends.

I checked and I have a £5.00 clubcard voucher that I had lost track of, so that's another christmas present paid for :D I do wish that you could double up the vouchers for books, but I think that DH will get a new shaver and other people will get jumpers and nighties as presents this time.

I have a pan of sausage and tomato pasta sauce and a big pot of beef in red wine simmering away. The pasta sauce is to use up two sausages and 4 chipolatas and some veg lurking in the fridge. I don't have a slow cooker as I don't have space for one, but I do have a heat diffuser and I swear that it is one of the best gadgets I've ever brought. Before I would have used the oven, but now the beef is happily bubbling away on the smallest hob and costing a lot less to cook. One of them will be dinner tonight, I'm just not sure which one yet.

I've plugged my lightbox in and have it sitting at my feet, so I will see if that works instead of being pinned to the dining table with it in front of me. I'd forgotten just how bright it is. I'm ignoring the cost of the electricity as it's better and cheaper in the long run for me to feel happier.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Today I have made my first pot of winter veg soup. Soup is a staple through the winter when its just me here and its hot and cheap, but I do miss chewing sometimes when I get carried away with soup. and, it brought with it another change in the weather, the sun who was here this morning as given way to rain coming in on a stong, south east wind. While the wind is from the south it can't get too bad though. :)

Charlies-aunt - when my parents got married my mother used to buy a pig's trotter every week as their meat. They mostly lived on soup... So are you sure you should be giving them to the dogs quite yet? After you've roasted them, you could boiled them up to get any meat off them and make stock :D
My mother use to buy a cows tongue at the butchers, and boil it then have it in sandwiches, it use to last the whole family for the entire weekend, there was never any letfovers....:D We also had pigs trotters.....oh those were the days.....:)

I still get pig trotters from our village butcher, they provide gelatin and are great to cook with meat which you want to set,eg ham pies or pate, also good cooked with shin beef.

Shegar, I'm not fanatically tidy, I dont mind stuff lying about as long as its not too much. I dont dust and polish very often . But I do hate ornaments all over the place, it drives me insane., one beautiful one is enough I think. And I like kitchen worktops CLEAR. & hide everything in cupboards. I dont like rooms filled with furniture, I like miles of deep lovely carpet. When the kids were home I kept all their mess in their rooms and shut the door so I didnt see it :)

No I dont dust everyday either, but if you dont have any ornaments you dont get the dust, quite agree with the ornaments, the saying is "less is more"......my mother always use to say " if youve got decent carpets and curtains the room is dressed".....Hey remember all the talk we had on bad feet . well I bought myself a pair of croc boots, they are beautiful and comfortable so glad I bough them, im still wearing crocs so far as the weather is so mild I dont mind not wearing socks but as soon as the weather turn cold on will go my lovely croc boots, got them from ebay at £38 quid.....:T

I've got it :D(and you can't have it:)) have big washing plans for today!

Ohhhhh I'd love tidy kitchen but a distinct lack of cupboards makes it impossible - I've got open shelves (where here when I came) that have all my pots/pans etc on and they look soooooooooooo messy:( but will just have to live with it until I can afford to change the kitchen (if ever).

My wee mog loves water too, if I turn on a tap upstairs she comes hurtling up and launches herself at it. She's a frequent visitor when I'm in the bath too - odd thing:). The other ones hates it. They're both a nightmare for having things "done" and I'd never manage to clip their claws myself - trying to get flea/tick stuff on is bad enough!:)

Just a idea, you could always buy some gingham material and make some lenghts up to hang in front of your open cupboards that way you wont have to look at the clutter, and gingham is cheap, washable , and very retro, you can hang them on that net curtain plastic stuff, you know what I mean dont you??, ...Kitchen make over done and dusted....:D
