I had a laugh this morning..we have a sign on our letterbox stating no junk or charity bags...it gets ignored more often than not..so this morning hubby waited for the man to shove the bag through letterbox and he shoved it back out...the man looking confused picked it up and tried to shove it back...hubby grabbed his hand and started growling like a rabid dog and pulling the mans hands through letterbox...by this stage i was hysterical with laughter:rotfl: and the poor man outside was hysterical shouting "let go let go."..hubby let go and the man literally legged it over garden and jumped fence in one leap:rotfl::rotfl:..haven't laughed soo much in ages..poor hubby said he got p*ssed off with folks ignoring sign...:D
Then he saw who he thought was our Sil to be,who happens to be a postie..for some strange reason hubby got the feather duster and when the poor postie got to our door hubby shoved the duster out the letterbox and was screaming at top of his lungs"whose a pretty boy then"..poor man looked like he sh*t himself on the spot...hubby who still thought it was SIL opened the door hysterically laughing..only to find a poor postie literally shaking in his shoes:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.I was laughing but had to apologize to the man..as hubby couldn't breath through laughing so much...i felt sorry for the poor man:rotfl:but did laugh when he had gone.
Then when we went to a£da to get some shopping please excuse this bit but hubby let a very loud fart out in a packed aisle..and just casually turned to me and said" crikey sara that was a razzler you dirty girl"..and walked off leaving me red faced and wishing the earth would swallow me there and then..plus it smelt..this old lady gave me a filtyh look and tutted at me..
So that was my OS funny day ..didn't cost a penny but soo funny..mind you i might not get post tomorrow and will never be able to show my face in a£da again:o

PMSL....Oh to have been a fly on the wall! Thanks for a good laugh. :rotfl:
Jolly glad lots of you found missing Mr T vouchers :T Now all we need to do is work out our best MSE way of using them? Last year they had some offers in conjunction with the 'finest' wines, which worked out quite good, but I couldn't see any of those this time. Not sure about the wine anyway as neither OH or I can really drink anymore. Even a couple of glasses the other day made me feel quite poorly next day (tummy not head)
Bought some whoopsied lamb mince tonight for £1.63 which has all gone in the freezer. Dinner tonight was some reduced broccoli, with a white sauce and cheese, some whoopsied mushrooms stuffed with the remains of a jar of pesto, some breadcrumbs and a bit of cheese, and some roasted tomatoes with a bit of thyme...it was a bit of an assemblage but it kind of worked together. Everyone was fed, which was the main thing!
Managed to find the daylight lamp, so tomorrow I really want to crack on with my fabric shopping bags.

We're going to be doubly money saving with the tesco vouchers this time and double them up to put toward a bike for OH (will only have £15 left to pay) then OH can cycle to work and save on the petrol!0

This is my 'recipe' for sausagemeat pie! It can be varied to use up whatever bits and bobs need using up.
I start by making up a packet of Basics sage and onions stuffing (15p) and mix it well with approx 1lb sausagemeat. (Aldi have 100% British Pork sausages 454g for 65p at the moment which are a clinch to de-skin) Mix in two finely chopped onions and an egg..... and any bits that you want to use up. (finely chopped leftover peppers, tomatoes, leeks, courgettes, chillies etc) and spices that you like, I use black pepper, garlic and soy sauce
Make up shortcrust pastry - 6oz cooking marg, 6oz of lard and 12 ozs of SR flour
Line lipped baking tray with pastry. Pop in the sausagemeat mixture and smooth down - if you have any apples that are past their best - you can de-core them, slice them and lay the slices on the top of the sausagemeat and then pop on the pastry lid - brush with a drop of milk and bake at Gas Mark 5 until golden brown.
Makes 6 very generous adult portions - lovely hot or cold with saladand a great lunchbox filler
Its very cheap (£2 or less) , tasty and endessly versatile - the Aldi sausages are a good cheap buy for this as they are nice & meaty but the tubes of sausage meat that the supermarkets mark down after Christmas are another good buy - I use Basics SR flour and stuffing mix as they are substantially cheaper than the branded versions.
Hope that this all makes sense!:heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls

:rotfl:That's brilliant! Posties apparently have lists with comments such as "beware of the dogs" etc marked against addresses - yours may now be something like "beware of the owner":DJust a idea, you could always buy some gingham material and make some lenghts up to hang in front of your open cupboards that way you wont have to look at the clutter, and gingham is cheap, washable , and very retro, you can hang them on that net curtain plastic stuff, you know what I mean dont you??, ...Kitchen make over done and dusted....:D
Ohhhhh, that's a brilliant idea Shegar:T. Don't know why I've never thought of that!
I'm sure I could rig a "plastic wire net curtain thing" from the ceiling - I get really annoyed having to wash things I don't use that often before I can use them!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:love it FTM - I'm so glad other people do crazy things too.
Just after I was first married hubby was out with his friends one evening and I was waiting for him to come home. It wasn't terribly late but we were newly married and I thought I would "surprise" him. When I heard the car pull up I stood right behind the lounge door wearing nothing more than a silky dressing gown. As he opened the door from the hallway I flung the dressing gown open and shouted "Tada!". His face was a picture - so was his best friends who had come back to borrow something (I don't even remember what). I sprinted up the stairs 2 at a time, dressing gown flowing behind and shut myself in the bedroom. 22 years later our friend still laughs about it - the only consolation is that at least I was a bit thinner then!
I didn't have a very MSE day - I forgot my lunch, left it in the fridge so had to buy some sandwiches. I'll be buying some cup a soups to keep in my drawer so I have something for emergencies in future. Sandwiches are a ridiculous price and they weren't even nice:(
I did toast my sandwiches and have them for dinner - waste not, want not!
Working through the freezer - just taken out cottage pie for tomorrow night. Also found some scones in the garage freezer - I'm wondering if I could make a kind of bread pudding type thing with them - I find scones don't freeze well so it may be best to improvise with them.0 -
been foraging for yellow stickers this week - did ok in asda last night and for raspberries and few bit, went to tesco today to pickup some click and collect stuff for new bathroom and hit just as the final reductions were going on - 3 packs 12p ham, 23p finest bacon, 32p finest soup, 6p bread, 17p cheese and a pasta ready meal oh and stockd up on 2 for 1 iams for the puddy tats.
Cheap bathroom cabinet I ordered is the perfect size to upcycle with a vintage mirror I got from the charity shop - my own version of a swanky next cupboard for £17 instead of £65!!
On a soup making mission at the mo too - carrot and thyme, spicy beetroot and coconut soup, cauli cheese and parsnip. All to be portioned up and grabbed for a work lunch
Also got our quote for dg of sash window and think we can stretch to it - hoping to upgrade all the wood windows to dg wood replicas over the next 3 years - so happy we have found and affordable local company after years of searching!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I have a work colleague who often appears at work with incredibly hairy legs as her cat likes to join her in the shower.
I'm still stretching my money as far as I can, SIL finally got his promised payrise so this will be the last month I need to help them out.

When OH and I go shopping my favourite thing to do was go the far end of the biscuit aisle and bellow to OH (who's a red head) 'have you got any ginger nuts' watch him turn bright red and scurry round the corner laughing.

:rotfl::rotfl:Oh FTM, that was a brilliant laff to start the day with, thank you! In an earlier life I was a postie for a couple of months on a temp contract and we were always taught not to put our fingertips thru a letterbox in case a dog would be lying in wait to have a go, but we were never warned about the owners.;)
I did my temp job over a notably cold and rainy summer and I'd be up at people's doors very early in the morning and their disgruntled cats would be huddled outside looking cold and p*ssed off. Often, they'd go spare with excitement on seeing postie, as they thought the door would be opened and they'd get in. One cat was so beside itself with the need to get indoors that I posted the mail, hit the doorbell then stepped sideways thru the hedge into the garden of the terraced house next door. Door opened, cat shot in; result. They must've realised Postie Did It as the bell was a loooong way above the mog's head but fortunately they didn't complain to my bosses.:o
Well, the slow cooker meal yesterday was a so-so success. The pork chops were beautifully tender but the sauce was way too thin to be adding much flavour. I think I need to get my head around the fact that liquids don't reduce as part of the slowcooking process.
Anyway, I have saved half he sauce and the second chop and am going to emperiment with cooking the sauce for a while in a pan with some lentils and maybe some random stuff lying around the joint, and trying to thicken and flavour it up a bit. Any suggestions gratefully recieved.
Charlies-aunt, I have captured your tray-bake recipe, many thanks, how I love the copy-and-paste function on MS Word.;)
Got a long day at t'office today and already I need match-sticks to prop my eyelids open, I'm exhausted after 8 hours sleep. But I am managing to keep my kitchen above the Dysentry Line and am cleaning the stainless steel sink and drainer at least every other night and coming thru to find it all shiny in the morning.
As the original Flylady taught us, it is a morale-booster. But I still ain't dressed, never mind having my shoes on...........:D
Hope everyone has a fab day.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Morning everyone:D
I gave the shiny yellow ball in the sky a good boot yesterday afternoon and it's not reappeared:( so hoping it's landed in someone's area:)
GreyQueen I have the same problem with liquids in my SC too - I always put waaaayyyyyy too much in and forget it doesn't reduce down.
Had one of the free chickens;) last night - need to pick it this morning and make some stock. Hopefully it'll be chicken & leek risotto tonight (have totally gone of this weeks meal plan:o).Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
