I have a sofa that is in fab condition but it is just too big for my cottage. So, the OH has bought me a smaller one for christmas. I have tried everywhere (including freecycle, who are VERY fussy) and no one wants to take it. It is too good to throw away but I could be left with little alternative at this rate. Any ideas?
My daughter is desperate for a new sofa - she thinks the second hand one she has now has damaged her back. She does not have much space though and it might be too big for her but if there is a chance it might fit I'm sure she would be interested. Is there any chance you could say what size and shape it is.0 -
Kleo, I have sent you a PM.0

done and also tried the chair on ebay but no one was interested. The thing I have found is that the ones that are in vogue are the low back ones which are no good for me and so this one isnt "trendy" but more cottagey!0 -
Grr Mr T has done it again! They think we are fools. I have been buying large tins of syrup for £1 but now that they have put it on the 3 for 2 it is £1.33. They wonder why I rarely shop there?0

redlady - stick on ebay - we have managed to sell stuff that charities wouldn't collect - as a pp said sometimes people think something must be better if they pay for it!
Thats exactly what I was going to write in to say, only trouble with saying "free to good home " people think its a peice of cr*p you need to get rid of, put a price on of say £30 you will be surprised at the phone calls you will get......:)0 -
Afternoon All!
Lots of techy probs with laptop have been exercising the grey matter, getting them sorted slowly, but very frustrating.
Poured down overnight and early this morning, but weather was lovely for the drive up to Lampeter (gave you a wave on the way by Katie!). The countryside looked fab in the autumn sunshine even the rain clouds when they came made for dramatic scenery. We have had lots of rainbows here recently, lots more again today, magical.
Deep sigh of relief, the lovely van doctor says that the gas engineer was beeing a tad zealous in his assessment of the issues, and all can be put right - at a cost of course, but bonus, some of the kit we don't want sells for good prices, so that will help affray the costs a bit. LVD had a tiny 12 wo Jack Russell pup, soo cute, I nearly got done for puppy-napping.
Went into Aberaeron for lunch - fish and chips, naturally! Chips were fab, but yet again I think our fish is better!
Not being very OS at the moment, as I spent rather a lot in Ikea on stuff to kit out the kitchen, as the van work will not come cheap, but all necessary expense in the long run.Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Has any one else tried taking back clothes to Asda on their 90 day moneyback guarantee?
I bought a couple of pairs of trousers & a couple of tops two months ago. Initially I was very pleased with them but at the weekend I went to fasten one of the pairs of trousers & the stitching started to come undone by the zip so I washed them & took them back & got my money refunded without any problems.
Been buying George clothing for years & never had problems with any before. So their guarantee does work. I expect they hope you'll not return them because you have lost your receipt.
My Tesco vouchers came today so I'll have to work out how to get best value from them now.0 -
Tudor rose, did you need your receipt? DD's school cardigans are falling apart already and I'm not happy about it. I was going to take them back but didn't know if I'd need the receipt.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0

You shouldn't need a receipt if you are getting your money back under your legal rights rather than the additional rights the shop gives you. If they are not of merchantable quality you are entitled to your money back. I had to do this in Marks recently and I explained that I don't keep receipts once I start wearing something because then I can't bring it back but there was no problem as it was RTM (return to manufacturer)It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Great news about the van Mrs Chip. Hopefully all will be sorted very soon.
Hearing you went to Aberaeron took me instantly back 40 years to my late teens! We used to go there every year with a bunch of family and friends for the August bank holiday carnival. Friend's family made up the marching jazz band that provided the music for the parade (which, IIRC used to march through at least one of the pubs!) We used to descend on the camp site on the Friday and drink away the entire following weekahhh, what it was to be young.
I wonder if the Harbour Master pub is still going strong? It used to be our base for the week.0
