Not that long really. Just about 19 months. However, unless you are a heavy downloader/streamer or have a poor orange/tmobile signal in your area, chitter-chatter suits your needs better as at giffgaff you'll get only 250 minutes for the same £10.

I can only get Orange or Tmobile if I stand at the roadside outside my house so there isn't a good network coverage in my area. :(

Well, then talkmobile (Vodafone) is the next to check with their £12 if you can survive with 750Mb.
500 minutes and 1G cost £12.50 at Tesco Mobile (O2).

Sorry I was offline because I got a phone call from a relative who has been receiving hospital treatment and is unwell tonight . She has to go for more hospital treatment on Monday! Another friend phoned cause her father has taken ill.

Giffgaff's £15 goody bag seems alright, 400 UK minutes, unlimited UK texts & unlimited mobile internet.
  • if anyone is in a situation where their phone is about to die.

I don't know how much Qualcomm MSM7227T is worse than Qualcomm MSM7230T (both are 800 MHz), but ZTE Vivacity is available for £90+£10 with £20 cashback.

I don't see any other differences in specifications.

Hubby phoned O2 and said he was thinking of leaving them and the person he spoke to said they would give me the 4S with 300 mins on a 24 month contract for £32 a month. She said she would give me unlimited O2 to O2 minutes for free and sell me the phone for £75.20. She also said that I had only been using about 150 minutes a month!

    Is this a reasonable deal?

Well, if you have been using 150 minutes, why on earth do you need 300+unlimited?
300 minutes cost no more than £8 (and on a 6 month contract, not 24): http://www.talkmobile.co.uk/simple.html
So, you pay 75.20+24*(32-8)=£651.20 for the phone that costs £499 at Apple.

However, at t-mobile 300 minutes + unlimited landline calls are available for £10.21 on 12 month contract with £80.80 TCB cashback. This makes it just £3.47 per month and brings the price you pay for the phone up to 75.20+24*(32-3.47)=£760:eek:

Also, you have not said what data allowance was included in the O2 tariff. It was 500Mb and Unlimited for my alternatives.

That was the number of minutes she quoted him for and the price she gave him. I thought I had been using a lot more minutes than what she said, I must check my bill again. As far as hubby remembers it was 500Mb of data allowance.

Should the calculations for t-mobile's 300 minutes + unlimited landline calls for £10.21 on 12 month contract with £80.80 TCB cashback make it £3.47 per month for 12 months + £10.21 * 12 = £122.52 for the second 12 months/year?

    Price to pay for the phone £75.20 + 12 * (£32 - £3.47) + 12 * £10.21 = £540.08?

T-mobile doesn't have a good coverage in my area.

Yes, but in fact it would be +£80.80 (missing cashback for the second year), not +£122, and
    £75.20 + 12 * (£32 - £3.47) + 12 *(£32- £10.21) =£679 (=£760-£80.80)
However, almost definitely there will be some cashback, although possibly not as big as £80. And there always are some good offers around and there is no anything stopping you from switching in a year.

Firstly, Orange and T-mobile started sharing their networks recently.
And you can use the handset on giffgaff (O2): 75.20+24*(32-10)=£603. BTW, it's the same as borrowing £499-£75.20 for 24 months at 24.4% APR.

I never thought of taking out the contract for the second year and getting cashback again. Would I be best to go for Giffgaff since I know I can get the O2 network? £10 Giffgaff goody bag, 250 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited web and free gg to gg = £499 (handset) + £10 * 24 (months) = £739 (£30.79 monthly).

    Where as with O2 it would be £75.20 (handset) + 32 * 24 (months) = £843.20 / 24 (months) = £35.13 monthly.

I am lost with regards what you are saying when you typed "And you can use the handset on giffgaff (O2): 75.20+24*(32-10)=£603. BTW, it's the same as borrowing £499-£75.20 for 24 months at 24.4% APR.".
