Best way to get the Iphone 4S?

I have had a similar argument with the Orange shop, but a friend's son works for them and he found out the official policy on it.
They will be doing the iPhone 4s with perk discounts, but not until they have more stable stock. They allowed some people to get their perk discount immediately if they had pre ordered the phone. This was because they had not announced they would not be doing perk on the 4s prior to release date, so they have honoured any pre orders and have allowed a perk discount to be applied.
They have been strict in enforcing the policy, and I have been told that they also aren't offering friends and family discount or staff discounts on the 4s until they have more stock.
Personally, I think that is fair enough, and am happy to wait a month or so to get my perk discount
Of course its fair enough, however change your terms and conditions then and train your staff properly in the call centres.
I have been told that the stores should be honouring the deal via the sales channel.
I have rang 3 stores. 2 say no, and 1 say yes but only on the 32gb. I think it needs to be a bit more clearer!0 -
hello all,
am new to this. but i wanted to tell my story. on october 13th, i rang orange and asked them if the nhs discount would apply to the iphone 4s and was told a categorical no. i thought fair enough, so i actually ended up buying one outright from apple on wednesday 27th october and was about to lock onto a very good o2 simplicity retention package. however a friend at work called me a moron for paying out that much as orange had changed the rules re their perks discount. that morning, on thursday 28th october, i rang numerous orange shops to find a local store that had one in stock and to clarify what the discount was. i can 100% honestly say that i have now a iphone 4s 32 gigabit which i paid only £80 for the hand set. to get it that cheap i had to sign up to a £46 tariff but with the nhs discount applied it makes it a mere £34.50. i was very happy with this and walked away a very happy customer. o2s retention guy i spoke to was a little embarressed after our conversation as there was nothing he could do to match what orange could offer.
there was one thing, as he was registering the phone and deal and contract online, it was causing a problem. when he tried to do it manually over the phone, the guy in the centre said the perk discount wasnt allowed with the 4s. however to be fair, i saw the official print out the staff had regarding the perk discount, and it applies for up to 5 friends and family. all you have do is go in with them.
as told by orange over the phone, stores are all franchises, so they can pretty much offer what they like individually
i hope this helps people.0 -
The Orange shops that I have been into have said I can have the 32gb 4s not a problem on the Perks discount. Its the 16gb one you cannot have due to low stock levels.0

Hi Matt, could you tell me where abouts in the country you managed to get Orange shops to agree this? I've tried my local ones (Guildford and Woking in Surrey) and they all say no way to any perk discounts on the 4s at present? If it's not too far I would be prepared to gravel to get a 4s now on the Perks discount!

Its a simple question how much does an unlocked Iphone4s cost in USA if it costs £499 on the apple UK website. The reason why I am asking this is as my parents are going to US next month and if it's cheap there then I will just buy from US.
Thanks
16GB $649 £449 UK £499
32GB $749 £513 UK £599
64GB $849 £582 UK £699
Unlike the UK, US sticker prices are always before Tax. Tax %age varies from state to state.
There may be up to 13% sales tax on that it it's bought in store so I added 10% on before doing the $ to £ conversion. Also I used interbank rates, the tourist rate will differ by a few quid..
VAT and Duty may be charged if they declare it (or even a fine if they don't and are caught). If stopped the onus is on them to prove they left the UK with it, not Customs to prove they didn't. Throwing away the box and reciept will not help, the IMEI could be used to identify the phone source. It is a big IF though..
You'll also need a UK plug, official Apple ones are £25 but plan on £5 or so if you need one or use a travel adapter permanantly, however iPhones happily charge from a PC.0 -

I am also trying to buy the new iphone and think that i would just buy the iphone direct from Apple and then go for the giffgaff Sim only deal .. what do others think? thnx
Been looking into this option myself and boils down to this:
1. Phone 500 quid from apple then Giff Gaff deal ( I need quite a few minutes so its theb 20 quid one) works out at 740 quid over the year
2. Tesco 12 month contract is £655 over the year for very similar minutes, texts, data etc
Therefore the Tesco deal is better, but and its a big but, looks like Tesco have no phones so you might be waiting a long time for them to get stock...
Can anyone tell me if there are any flaws in this argument? I'm basically saying that for around 800 minutes on a 12 month deal Tesco is unbeatable (unfortunately) and by a considerable margin...0 -
