Son being realeased from prison

It isn't up to 'the system' the solve every problem that inmates have. They can only do so much. People don't get off drugs until they want to get off drugs. If this guy has been an addict for 15 years he's lucky to be alive, your friend should be grateful for that, if he hadn't been in prison he'd probably be dead by now.0

This board should be renamed The Chav Board or something. We've got issues such as wife beating, smack head kids, the pros and cons of having an affair. It's a rich tapestry of the behaviour of the underclass.
Anyway, to the point. Don't blame the prison system. Blame this junkie for screwing up his life and blame his mum for not stopping it happening. It's always somebody elses fault though, eh?0 -
The question is .. my friend is the mother .. this lad has been a Herione addict for well over 15 years.
hE HAS SPENT MOST OF HIS ADULT LIFE IN PRISON.
My friend wants her son back at home but she realises the risk.
Prison is supposed to be a deterent ..
Drugs are sold in prison .. Direct debits set up by the people on the outside to supply???
18 months and the Lad is still on Methodone??
This is the way our prison service works? .. go into prison and your drug habits are no concern of ours as long as you do your time and don't make trouble.
We will turn a blind eye even if it is obviouse you are still out of your tree and we won't ask why or where you are getting it.
They are prisons, run by prison officers, not re-hab centres, not hospitals. The prisoners who go in as addicts are that because they chose to be.
Do you think prison officers are paid enough to deal with goodness knows how many addicts going cold turkey?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Hi person from the prison service..
I agree you have one really tough job and yes addicts can be the most selfish people but the question remains
why can people on the inside get the family of addicts who are in prison, to set up direct debits on the outside ,to pay for the supply of drugs to people in prison?
Why when they are supplied with these drugs it is not noticed?.
mobile phones that the prison service don't allow, no matter where they are secreted ... ?
Sorry .. maybe it's time to reassess your search methods.0 -
my friend is already receiving phone calls on her mobile from 'people who have an interest about her sons release due to the fact they supplied him while he was in prison and have not been paid.
Unbelievably direct debits are set up for prisoners by families on the outside,to pay for this addiction and these people on the outside are making a fortune .WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN OUR PRISON SERVICE ???
This whole deal wont move forward until he gets clean. Forget all the other problems associated with this until he stops using drugs. Only then can you look at a more level playing field to move forward.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. The minute this ' Junkie' becomes part of the system .. ie prison , then the system becomes responsible for the outcome.
What is the point of the system if they cannot deal with the problem?
Locking people with addiction away for a few years never solves the problem and the prisons are becoming full to bursting .It is like a revolving door
So Ronald .. whats your solution ? Put his Mum in prison as well?

You REALLY have no idea what the parents of people in this position have to go through.0 -

surely your question should be why are the family supplying prisoners with drugs?
do you think prison officers are there for every second of every day? how else do you expect them to notice everything?
you sound like someone whos just read something in the daily express and have come to rant about it.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Prison Officers are there all the time and no I don't read the Express. This is told to me from someone who has first hand experience of the system.
These families are paying for someone on the inside to supply the prisoner with drugs.. that is their choice but why is this being allowed to happen?0 -
dirtysexymonkey wrote: »absolute rubbish! why do these people not have any responsibility to themselves in your head? they and they alone are responsible for their behaviour and actions - no one else. prison is responsible for removing these disgusting reporabates from society and keeping decent people safe. perhaps if your 'friend' had done her job properly her son wouldnt be a waster!
Now that is just downright nasty.. my friend was a great Mum, this lad is 30 years old and i am just asking how the prison system allows people to still access drugs when they are inside.0
