I contacted Sky and told them i was paying too much for what i had (I had full package except movies) And i told them i couldn't afford it anymore and id have to go to a cheaper company which could match my package.
They then told me over the phone that if were to stay with Sky they would cut my costs by half and give me next month free of charge.
Absolute chuffed if you ask me. My brother also tried this but he didn't get the month free option.Better to understand a little than to misunderstand a lot.0 -
got the same deal tonight as Paddy H, Thought Sky had pulled the half price deals, so am really happy tonight.
dont know if it makes any difference, but told them I loved all the channels but just could not afford them at the moment, and was adamant i was going to cancel,....................
but it would be rude to turn down an offer like that. wouldnt it.lol0 -
Hi
I phoned Sky yesterday to tell them that the monthly spend was a little too high for our family who is making cutbacks at the moment. Just said I couldn't really justify the 50+ spend each month.
I was offered Multiroom for 2.50 for 12 months and no HD charge. Cut my bills down to 25.00 a month for 12 months. I spoke to a really lovely helpful guy.0 -

I went through to their 'Thinking of leaving sky' option on the automated phone service.
Top tips from me would be to be extra nice about Sky, their service, their programmes etc etc, but that you're looking to cut costs and having Sky is a luxury..blah...blah.
Worked for me :-) Although I only got 25% off, not 50%. Mine isn't a contract though so I could always phone up again in a month or two and try for the 50% haha.
Good luck0 -
Hi everyone,
My notice period expired yesterday so I called back today and reinstated. Nobody got in touch to offer me anything so I rejoined but on a much cheaper package (cheaper as in less channels, not a discount) which is a bit frustrating but I missed the TV too much! I might try again soon thoughNever argue with an idiot; they'll bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.0 -
You best be hoping you do sir, or i promise you will be running back tail between legs in 12 months time.
Sky is expensive
Sky IS cheaper than virgin
Sky product/service is better
Recently come off virgin and it was soo poor, glad to be back on sky.
Only on sky as i currently pay £56 for full HD package, HD multiroom, broadband, evening + weekend calls and line rental. Guessing it will stop (or be left with very little left to watch) when the contract is done unless we can get another friends and family discount
That is the most sense I have ever read on a "leaving Sky" type thread.
I regularly threaten to leave and sometimes get offered nothing and sometimes get offered 25% to 50% off or free this or free that etc. Yet having looked at the alternatives, there simply are none that come close.
They have the best product by miles and miles and they know it.0 -

Well the package I have been offered with Virgin leaves Sky for dead. I will be getting far far more with Virgin for £40 a month less than what Sky was costing me. Son in law has a Tivo box and it is far better than my Sky HD box.:pB&SC No. 298
