My 30 days notice ended around 3 weeks ago , I did get a questionnaire via email before it ended in which I said I would consider a deal if offered but I've not had any calls.

That's where you go wrong! I cancelled back in September and didn't respond to the questionnaire email, then a week before my cut off date got a very good offer which I have accepted.

I'm not whinging because I haven't had an offer , just pointing out that not everyone will get called up with a deal.

If they were to call me now with an half price offer I'd probably turn it down as most of what I watch at the moment is on free to air , the other programs I watch have been downloaded and watched on my media player ;).

The only thing I am missing is the series link / recording features of he box as I have to keep watching for start times etc but I will be getting a freeview HD PVR very soon so that problem will be solved.

If you let your subscription end and get cut off, you will almost certainly get a letter offering you half price for a year. 3 of my friends have done this. I cancelled in February and got a letter every month until last month (September), offering half price for 12 months. I even got offered half price and £100 credit to bill if i took sky sports. You might find like I did that once you cancel, you don't miss it.

Had a letter this morning saying they were sorry that I was leaving Sky. But they said they can reinstate my service free of charge, but still with the same monthly payment:(. Too late now as I have signed up with Virgin, already had my BB and phone with them anyway. My bill will be £40 a month less than what I was paying Sky and Virgin combined, and for this I will have 3 Tivo boxes, 50mb BB, XL phone, XL TV (HD) and also Sky movies something I did not have with my Sky package. Also for the the first 3 months I will have a £25 discount as well. The only channel that I will miss is Sky Atlantic HD, but that is something I can live with. I can`t believe that after nearly 20 years as a subscriber, the best Sky offered me was £10 off my present subscription.

You best be hoping you do sir, or i promise you will be running back tail between legs in 12 months time.

    Sky is expensive
    Sky IS cheaper than virgin
    Sky product/service is better

Recently come off virgin and it was soo poor, glad to be back on sky.

Only on sky as i currently pay £56 for full HD package, HD multiroom, broadband, evening + weekend calls and line rental. Guessing it will stop (or be left with very little left to watch) when the contract is done unless we can get another friends and family discount
Disagree, Virgin broadband is the best on the market, even the Sky rep who knocked on my door admitted as much. Also Virgin as it's cable doesn't get interference through adverse weather conditions like sky & it's cheaper so for me it's a no brainer!

I was on half price offer with SKY for 6 months (except HD which was charged at full price),it was World package with HD & SKY sports, costing me £36.25.
But they have not offered me the deal again, so I am now serving the notice. They won't budge, so I will be voting with my feet & go for Virgin Medias' minimum TV pack, Tivo, with Sky sports without Sky HD, which will cost me £ 32 with VM. Not bothered about Movies channel.
I am already with VM for BB & phone.
  • This is probably the reason why they aren't offering anything much at the moment

Silly site won't let me post the link properly.
  • My Sky contract ends in 3 weeks. I called 2 days ago to see if they could do anything with the price and they said no.
I called again today and said I wanted to leave due to the cost of it. I said I was really happy with the package, service etc, but just trying to cut back on the pennies at the moment. It took a little while of chit chat before the lovely lady offered me 25% off my package for 12 months. The best bit is it's not even a contract - I can cancel it by giving 31 days notice.
I now pay £16.12 a month for Sky TV and have everything except Movies & Sports.

Hope this helps someone else. Just to add that I phoned in the morning, after reading another post suggesting this is the best time as the team have a sales quota :-) When I called the other day it was in the evening :-(

    Good luck.

People are staying in more. You can get Sky TV from £20 a month, which is cheaper than a night out or a meal with the wife/hubby.
