                    Hi all,
I'd really appreciate some advice please as I've recently cancelled Sky due to the fact that it was costing around about £100 a month (including everything; phone, line rental, TV and broadband) and I've cancelled the TV element as that was hugely expensive. I called up with the hope that they'd offer me a deal as I've been with them for over 10 years but I didn't get offered one.
What do you think the chances are that I'll get offered a deal before the official date my TV goes off? Do you think that's likely? I don't want to loose Sky TV but I don't really want to be paying silly monthly amounts either!
Any thoughts greatly appreciated, thanks

Never argue with an idiot; they'll bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Yeah that's what I fear I've always been offered a deal there and then but the guy I talked to this time didn't seem to care! I cancelled my subscription this morning, been with them 20 years and told them I was going over to Virgin as it was £40 a month cheaper. All they offered me was £10 off my current payment, told them that was not good enough and have cancelled it, will be interesting to see if I get a call from retentions.:pB&SC No. 298

You'll probably get a call a few days from the end of your 30 day notice period. No free lunch, and no free laptop 0 0

I rang up 2 days ago because I had a Virgin media flyer come through the door offering a very good price for the channels and telephone package, so I rang Sky, explained what I would get (the same as what they were already providing) but for nearly £20 cheaper. Result - nothing, there was nothing they could do. I pointed out that I had been with them for over 11 years, but this did nothing. So I left it that I would leave them and go with Virgin.
Anyway, yesterday I was still a bit peeved that their customer service was poor, so I rang them again, and spoke to a great young lad who was more than happy to help, in the end he knocked 25% off my monthly bills for the next 12 months, it's still a couple of pounds more expensive than Virgin, but at least there's no hassle with swopping over. So it definately pays to ring a couple of times Just bumbling along, trying to save some moneyCouldn't do it without coming here every day Just bumbling along, trying to save some moneyCouldn't do it without coming here every day :T:T:T£2 Savers ClubSealed Pot Challenge - ~16930 :T:T:T£2 Savers ClubSealed Pot Challenge - ~16930

OP why don't you just change to Sky Freesat? You keep all the equipment - you just stop paying. There is only a difference of a few channels - unless you want a specific sports package etc.0

You best be hoping you do sir, or i promise you will be running back tail between legs in 12 months time.
 Sky is expensive
 Sky IS cheaper than virgin
 Sky product/service is better
Recently come off virgin and it was soo poor, glad to be back on sky.
Only on sky as i currently pay £56 for full HD package, HD multiroom, broadband, evening + weekend calls and line rental. Guessing it will stop (or be left with very little left to watch) when the contract is done unless we can get another friends and family discount0
