I've been playing with iOS5 for a week or so now and thought I would start some likes and dislikes.
People saying that it is just playing catch-up with Android, need not read any further.
Likes:
iMessage is very good, free and quite quick
Wireless Sync with iTunes is spooky, quick and useful
iCloud with 5gb/data is pretty good
Notifications. I like the way I can pull down the messages from any screen and that I get notified even when playing games / full screen app.
All of the above makes the iPad a bit more useful
Dislikes:
Notifications in the lock screen. Doesn't show as much as it could/should. Go look at LockInfo Apple...

You can alter what is shown and what is not shown in the lock screen.
I personally like iOS5. I've been using the GM version for a few days now and it's still a little buggy. I can't wait for iCloud to be fully up and working.
WiFi Sync can be a bit slow if transferring large files to my iPad...0 -
how comes you have IOS5 already??
I am lead to believe it is released on 12th October 2011.
Just checked and my Ipod is on 4.3.5 and says up to date0 -
App developers have access to beta versions so they can test their apps on actual devices. I believe developers can add 100 devices to their developers accounts. I have a friend that is a developer who added my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 to his account so I could test his apps.0

my friend emailed me a cheeky way of getting it, i have decided to just wait until tomorrow to get it.
the new stuff ive seen is great, it seems a lot quicker and smoother than ios4, which is a positive step because ive seen some Android phones run very very quick and smooth (HTC Sensation).
Syncing calendars will be good (with the wife) so i know what im doing and when, and also the gps reminders will make my wife's life easier with me...0 -
The latest version of iTunes Beta and iOS 5 were both open and you didn't need a developers ID to download / install them. Not worth it now of course as it is officially released tomorrow.0

iTunes 10.5 now available to download ... http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/0

I didn't know that.
I've been running iOS5 for nearly 2 months and even the latest GM release is not as smooth as it should be, either that or my reconditioned unit I got from Apple is yet another duff!

I've picked up Itunes 10.5 on both computers, One computer took 2 attempts.
No sign of IOS5 yet - better to do it now before TM kicks in later in the day.0 -
