For the first one, iPhones can be quite fussy about where they are in relation to your face. Do you ever see the screen light up when you are making a call? This happens when it thinks it's not being held next to your ear. Try moving it slightly next time you are making a phone call on it, to how much you need to move it to see the screen light up. So it might be that you aren't holding it in exactly the position.dwsjarcmcd wrote: »Firstly I have the setting on that it activates when I pick it up to my ear but it doesn't always work and I don't know why! For the second, check what the language is set to under Settings -> General -> International. It needs to be set to 'British English' not 'English'.
These might not be what's wrong, but I thought I mention them both just in case!0 -

'No new notifications'. It's not appearing by itself. It's when I swipe down from the top of the screen. But I have some games where I would like to be able to swipe down from the top of the screen, it's now not possible to do this as Notification Centre appears. What things are appearing, is it email or something else like Facebook or Twitter etc?0 -

You have to swipe almost starting outside of the screen for the notifications to appear and then only the tab appears not the notifications center itself.
If you are just a little more precise in your game (i..e not starting right at the top) everything should be fine?

iCloud has already been a lifesaver as it automatically backs up my iPad & Iphone 4 every night.
Love the 5-finger app switching on iPad
Its great that the lock screen finally says more than "<person> Text(3)" and actually gives useful information; even more so than just "<text(2)" when they were from multiple different people. And the way things like Facebook's notifications integrate so well into the same
Notifications popping up at the top of the screen instead of bludgeoning their way through whatever you were doing
iMessage is good, but I already have unlimited texts lol. However, the fact that I can message this way over wifi if I don't have coverage could be useful
New home screen look when you double-click home button, inc. camera shortcut.
Finally, pinch to zoom on the camera, plus swipe to get to photos
Built-in photo editing (albeit basic)
iCloud's photo stream that gets my photos from iPhone and makes them available on my iPad instead of me having to 'bump' them over
I like the idea of notifications that pop up based on location, I wish it was worth buying the iTV plug-in unit just for AirPlay Mirroring, because it would be so useful, and I'm looking forward (I hope) to Office2 HD adding support for iCloud.
Dislikes:
I had to do a restore, and much as iCloud had done a great job in saving all my data so I didn't lose a single thing; even though it was plugged in to iTunes at the time, it still insisted on spending almost 3 hours downloading all my apps over wifi instead of just getting them off the PC. Being the first time I'd done it, and worried I might mess up some part of the restore, I didn't want to start an iTunes sync, even though this would, obviously, have sped the whole thing up. Plus some of my apps are no longer in the iTunes store, so I still had to add them back from iTunes on my PC.
Also, I've not seen anything to do with wifi sync (other than the option to enable it), is this only available if I don't back up to iCloud?Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.- Mark TwainArguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.0 -
