Please can you help I am new to this thread and dont know if I am in the correct thread.

I received a statement whilst on holiday from Grattan catalogue total balance owed £14.47 requesting a minimum of £5 to be paid by 27/6/09 I returned from holiday and paid this amount in full on the 13th July. Later that day I received my July statement dated 6th July an on this statement there was a £12 penalty charge for late payment of my June statement. When I emailed them to explain and politely ask for my charge to be refunded i received this reply.
Unfortunately, once the late payment charge is implemented against an account, we are unable to remove this.
Is this true and can I get it back .

If they won't do it nicely then force them to :D

any other ideas please letter did not work see reply below.
I have just asked for my terms and conditions from when I first opened my account.
If they send me them is it something I should have signed to say I agreed to them.

    Dear Customer

    Thank you for your email.

On viewing your account, we note that we receive payment on 07/05/09, which
shows on statement 146, printed 04/06/09. This had a minimum payment
request of £5.00 which was due with us by 27/06/09.

As this payment was not received, the £12.00 charge has been added and will
    stand.

    Kind Regards

Have you read the guide to reclaiming?
You need 6 years statements(or however long the account was open), you need to work out how many times you have been charged, then use a lovely template twice for the money back.

Yes I followed the procedure. I do not need six years statements as
It has never happened before, my account has always been up to date. I have only ever been charged this once all over a missed payment of £5 thats why I am so upset.

In that case, as they haven't refunded as a Gesture of Goodwill and won't play nice then I think template 1 here will help them to play nice ;)
