If it is more than 6 years since the account is closed then you are unlikely to be able to claim the charges back.
Yep. Very correct. It is extremely unlikely you can claim

Hi all, sorry to resurrect this thread but I need to know if anyone has actually received a reply after writing to this address?

I sent a letter to this address over two weeks ago (recorded, signed for). I's assumed Littlewoods were being ignorant in their slow reply, but today received a letter explaining more charges had been added to my account for late payment fees, and that they are concerned my payments are insufficient.

My letter was to arrange a payment plan (which I have kept to for my part). I wanted a letter in writing, rather than a phone call which proves nothing. Also, I found staff pushy to transfer me to 3 year terms (with interest) which I am not interested in doing.

Anyway, that's beside the point. Has anyone had confirmation of delivery to this address? Or is there another address I should be writing to in order to receive a reply?

I am claiming from Royal Mail for this lost letter, and will also send details of this claim to Littlewoods, but I need to be sure of where to send it!

    Any advice greatly appreciated :)

    Thanks,
    Amanda
  • Sent a letter to Studio on monday asking for my charges back + interest and today received a letter saying that the full amount + interest (£357) was to be paid into my account which leaves me £90 in credit which they have given me as gift vouchers

5 days to settle in full £357 and no hassle

    Thanks :money: you`re great

Hi there I stumbled across this forum just over a week or so ago and e-mailed Ace requesting copies of statements on an old account. Within 5 days the statements arrived and I sent the letter asking for a refund of charges. Yesterday I received confirmation that they are repaying me £534 . as my account is long closed this is coming to me in the form of a lovely cheque!!!!!!

    thanks Money saving EXPERTS!!!!

Have you already done the SAR bit(to get the amounts you are claiming)?

    Hi,

My wife has a debt with Ace Catalogue which I'm sure is mostly made up of both unlawful charges and mis-sold PPI payments.

She opened the account in 2002.

A couple of weeks ago we got the entire accounts history of payments made / charges applied etc.

I'm uncertain of what to claim for or even how to go about it? Martin's information seems only to apply to bank accounts, loans and credit cards.

For PPI we sent the letter from Martin's template and they referred us to the Ombudsman, but Ace believe that the Ombudsman have no jurisdiction because of the time she opened the account. My wife hasn't worked for 12 years due to bringing up Children and so would never have qualified for the payment protection. When she applied for the payment protection to pay out last year, Ace told her she didn't qualify as she was unemployed - she then replied back to them saying how she has never worked and requested that all money she paid be removed from the total balance - they then cancelled the PPI and refunded the last months payment (1).

So by their own admission, they know they've done wrong, We have sent the info to the Ombudsman and will wait to hear back, but if they tell us they haven't got jurisdiction, where do we go from there?

As for the other charges, we haven't started any process yet as I'm not sure what to claim for. There are charges called "Default Sums" which I know can be claimed, but the biggest of all are "Service Charges" - which I believe is there term for the monthly intrest?

Anyway, if anyone has any experience with these low lifes or can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated!

    Thanks!

Default sums are claimable, service charges if that is their term for interest is not. You can claim interest on the default sums of course.

So even though they have charged something like 25% interest on the defaults and PPI it can't be claimed?

TO clarify, you can claim back PPI if the ppi is missold at the rate you were charged.
You can claim interest on defaults at the rate they charged as well.
You cannot claim legitimate interest, ie paying a minimum amount but not the full amount on the bill.
