I said to him that they could be reclaimed in the same way as the bank charges claims and he said they couldnt.
This is the problem with telephoning, It's quick and convenient, but they will tell you anything and there is no record. Do it in writing as per Martin's guide.
  • We got over £100 back from Littlewoods. We wrote letters and they rejected our complaint. So we filled in a Financial Ombudsman form and they paid up straightaway. Took about 3 months from start to finish but worth the (small) effort. Follow Martin's guide.
  • Hi all new here...so to get this all clear. I can claim back from catalogues..whatever they call the charges: admin, adjustments etc. I need to use the bank template(changing it to catalogue). Ask to see the agreement that they will say I signed. Also Kays have been charging me Account Cover, which I asked them to cancel several times, I can claim that back to.
    Thank you

    Hi
I have catalogues with Next and Additions (Littlewoods) and I have tried to reclaim the fees - Next have replied with

"Next Directory introduced default charges, set at £5.00, on April 18th 2006. You have been charged four late payment charges on the 25/1/07, 25/6/07, 25/10/07 and 25/2/08. Your Next Directory account is neither a credit card nor a store card but a mail order account. As such the OFT have not set a maximum default charge level. The £5.00 charge represents actual or liquidated losses and as such Next Directory are entitled to make this charge where the agreement is defaulted upon."

and Additions have said that my last 12 months statements are available online and if I want any statements for further back than that they will cost me.......wait for it......£5 per statement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone got any ideas as to what to do next or shall I just give up?
    Thanks for your help

First off, a mail order account is still a credit agreement and as the OFT hasn't set a maximum I would go after them for the charges. You should ask them for a breakdown of the £5 charge, in reality it costs them to more than £1.20.
As for the £5 per statement, send them a Subject Access Request. This means they have to supply all information regarding your account for £10.
  • Hi all,
Does anyone have the address that I send the 1st claim letter to Littlewoods?
I've tried searched the forum and found a couple of different ones.

    Many thanks

  • That's the correct address. It's the Complaints Management Team - for example, Rebecca Rattigan.

This company are notorious for not paying out claims. It took them about 3 months with us and we had to complain to the FOS. At which point they immediately refunded all the charges but not the interest. The FOS are still investigating.....

Btw, they are dodgy on their "extra care advantage" PPI as well - certainly worth trying to claim for this.
  • Thanks for that guys.

I just hope they settle as the charges total £30 more than my outstanding balance so that would clear another monthly bill!
