KimYeovil it`s a good point but it don't always work like i have always compared price where ever i have shopped and i must say that sometimes with the likes of Choice and littlewoods it does sometimes work out cheaper to get them from there, Take me yesterday my hoover died so i have to get another one i don't often get stuff from Choice but i was looking around the shops online and also the Tesco catalogue page (411) item # 6 £153:56 Vax not my normal choice but when there is this much of a price difference you have to do it don`t you please have a look http://www.choice.co.uk/rf/cho/p.do/appliances/vacuum-cleaners/vzl-6015-mach-5-upright-bagless-cleaner?Nao=84&groupId=493548226&Nu=this_product&SNtk=&Np=1&SN=153+4294484641&Ntt=493548226&D=493548226&Ntk=group_search&Dx=mode+matchall&thisprod=452128023&N=153+4294484641&Nty=1&Mis_item_id=15&Mis_item_loc_id=1&product=452128023&pageSize=12
Please note the price there is £60.06 differance thats with a 6 year Guarantee aswell what more can you ask for and dont forget thecommiction earn as the agent, And also its not alway possable to get stuff that is needed from shops all the time if cash is tigh.

KimYeovil,
Perhaps my comments were overblunt. I do agree with you, and personally I have never incurred any of these charges.
However, people come on here looking for advice on how to reclaim charges, not a smart-!!!! lecture on how they should have managed their money better with the benefit of hindsight.
In your post #2 you say:
"Yes, they can charge you reasonable fees for not paying a bill."
If you had read Martin's guide you would know that even £12 is way over the top and illegal under the Unfair Consumer Contracts regulations.
And then you add:
"Next time, if you only have £85, it might be an idea to only purchase £84 worth of goods."
That is a totally unhelpful and patronising comment and it's hardly surprising you annoyed the person who asked the question.
Sorry to turn this into a rant but it really annoys me when people like you come on here and criticise posters who are trying to sort their finances out. You are not the worst, which is probably why your posts haven't been deleted.0 -
Hiya,
This is too kim..
i made the original post...I'm a 21 year old girl , i stupidly got myself into the debt and now i am doing my best to get out of it...i tried so hard last year and can now finally see a light at the end of the tunnel..I do not earn an awful lot but i am putting every penny into what i owe to get rid of it and be debt free.
I only asked about the charges because i owe £36 pound to choice and they are a combination of 3 x £12 charges...I thought if i could get these back then i could close the account and get it wiped off my credit file...however i have chosen to pay it off anyway and then try and get the money back to put towards my other debts... I accept my debt is my own fault and problem but if other ppl are getting there charges back then surely im within my rights to ask for mine too.

Hi soggywoo
Yes you can claim them back, even if they are only £12.
Suggest you also go to the debt help pages as you will get more advice on how to tackle these nasty interest rate charges.
Sometimes these accounts have mis-sold PPI that can be claimed back.
Another thing to check is if they have a copy of the signed credit agreement if taken out before 2007.
Finally unless your credit rating is really bad you might be able to balance transfer to a cheaper rate.
Read Martin's debt guide as well.
Good luck0 -
Hi All, i have a few questions that i'm sure someone will have the answer to, i'm about to claim fees from Littlewoods, i'm claiming for missed payment fees but i'm wondering if i can claim for £10 admin charge that they have charged me for sending a letter plus a £12 fee for sending me a debt collection letter? If i can claim for these can i put them in the same letter or would i have to do letters for each of the fees, i know i can do the missed payment ones on one letter but i'm not sure about the rest0
