  • Can someone point me in the direction of details on how to do this? Along with a template if possible?

Also, my husband bought a fridge 5 years ago from Hydro Electric for £140. Cos he is crap, he still owes them nearly £500 and has been paying it for years as he always missed payments and they charge over £20 each time they write to him (£22.50 IIRC). How do I go about claiming back money from them? I do have money stashed away in a savings account to pay off the total just now if I would need to do that first before claiming back.

I'd really appreciate if someone could talk me through how to make any claims. Thanks :)
  • Hi faeriemoo!
At the top of the thread just under the big red 'start here' is a list of titles. The template letters are there, just adapt them to say late charges .

    Hi Everyone,

Can anyone tell me if they had any luck reclaiming from Littlewoods? I have sent off the initial letter with copies of the statements and it took them 4 months but in the end they said hey wouldn't be refunding anything. Anyone had any better joy and what did you have to do to get it?

    Thanks

  • Hi guys,

Hope this is the right place to post - if not please advise me.

Basically my mum had an account with littlewoods and ALWAYS paid for all goods promptly. About five years ago, over the phone, she asked them to close the account and they agreed. She owed £0.

During that time, correspondence came but it was assumed to be junk mail and popped in the bin by my sister (silly huh?). Then, a little while ago, letters from Moorcroft started arriving demanding payment for an account in arrears (Littlewoods). Administration charges...

We have called and asked for the account to be put in dispute and for a full list of what is owed to be sent to us, as it does not refer to actual goods owed nor to an account that was live!

What should we do next? Any help greatly appreciated.
  • I recently paid of my bill with Simply Be (took me about 3 years!!) but I did have a lot of late payment charges - would it be worth me writing the reclaim letter to them for these charges or will they refuse as i no longer owe them money?

I'd appreciate your replys guys :)
  • Anyone got any advice?
  • I have a similar problem with studio (Studio24) and their ridiculous 'admin' charges.

I ordered a marble rolling pin from them in February this year which took ages to arrive. It cost £6.99 and I used a free delivery code found online but was still billed the full £11.98 - why can't they just take payment at time of order like most online stores? If I had known that I would be charged postage I would never have bothered as this almost doubled the cost of the item. The order confirmation email only gave a total of £6.99 with a sentence later in the email saying "Your Items Total excludes any promotional discounts (if applicable) and the standard delivery charge." - so I assumed the free delivery code had been accepted and only when the item was delivered and invoiced did I discover it had not.
So therefore I did not pay the invoice when sent as I did not agree with the delivery charge being added.

After several threatening letters from them (adding a £20 admin charge and a £1 service charge each time) I did eventually pay the full £11.98 (by online banking) just to try and get rid of them (I refuse to pay the rip-off admin and service charges).

However they still kept sending me threatening red letters, adding £20 in 'charges' and attempting to phone me several times. I admit I never replied to their letters or answered the calls but I was hoping they would go away as I had paid for the item I ordered.

Anyway, earlier this month I received a 'final demand' - "you have failed to pay Studio as required, details are being sent to Moorcroft debt recovery who will call at your home, all the legal costs of a court summons will be added to what you already owe, etc, etc"...

Is this legal for studio24 to add on all these admin and service charges and therefore 'owe' them £87 for a £6.99 item (!!) when I have already paid in full for the item + delivery charge? This makes the total charge for a £6.99 item to be near enough £100 (£99.23 if I paid all the charges) which is ridiculous!

Last week I received a 'notice of intended litigation' from Moorcroft and today Moorcroft phoned and I told them that I dispute the charges, so they said they will put it on hold and contact studio.

Should I send a letter similar to the one in the post above to studio or to Moorcroft or to both?

Thanks in advance for any help in dealing with this......

Did you disputr the delivery charge with them before these extra demands were made? If not you will need to phone them and explain all of this.

Yes you can reclaim these charges, it dosen't matter the account has been paid up. This way you get the money direct to you not taken off the account!
