Success!
Studio:
Amount Claimed: £112
Amount Paid: £112
The Story:
They ignored my first couple of letters - bit of advice send it to the legal team and use recorded delivery that was the only way I got a response. They finally wrote to say their charges are legal, fair etc but are repaying the charges in full to the balance which I owe them. :j0 -
Hello all
This is a great site. u can probably tell that i'm new to this. Can someone out there help me.
I would like to claim late payment/admin charges from littlewood and argos cataloguesbut i don't know how to go about doing this. Each time that I have send in payment, even 1 day late after the due date they have charged me £15.
Pls tell me how i can claim back this charges. is there a letter template i can use?
Moreover, I would like to be able to claim back my interest that I believe I am entitled to from Littlewood catalogue. Three years ago I became unemployed and I asked if I could pay less each month. They permitted this, by extending the payment period and charging me interest for it. It was for three years and should end in January 2009. I have however tried to pay it off as quickly as possible and have only £29 left which I would be paying off this month. When I signed the agreement for the extended payment period I was told that if I pay it off earlier I should be entitled to a refund of the interest for the period remaining. I asked abut this recently and was told that I am not entitled to any refund. I have misplaced my copy of the agreement and they said they can not send me a copy as it's been over 2yrs.
Is there any action I can take to get the refund and also get a copy of the agreement?0 -
Can you please tell me what a 'maintenance charge' is. This is what, £28, I have recently been charged by my bank, Natwest. That is in addition to the monthly interest they charge me for my £1800 overdraft. I have tried quite unsuccessfully to find out what this charge is.
This is not the firrst time they have charged me additional charges, totally different from monthly overdraft interest and charges for going over my overdraft limit and each time I have asked for explanation they have simply used ridiculous jargons to explain the charges.
This money is automatically withdrawn from my account so I can not stop it.
I would also like to claim back my bank charges. When I threatened my bbank that I would do this I was told that I would instantly be made to pay back my overdraft of £1800. Can they do this and where do i stand if they do?
I am currently on jobseekers allowance and cant aford to pay back the overdraft yet.0 -
Hi MandyLou66
All i did was rang the normal telephone number that you would ring for placing orders. I asked them if they could send me a copy of the trading statements from my account. They sent these out to me within 3 days free of charge. I then used the letter templates from the bank charges page but just changed some of the wording that didn't apply. I sent this off recorded delivery so Studio couldn't say they hadn't received it.
Roughly 2 weeks later i had a reply off them stating that they regard their charges to be fair but were refunding me the amount i had requested in full onto my account.
I also used the interest calculator from the bank charge pages on this site and printed a copy which i also sent with my letter.
Good luck chuck!:money:0 -
I just wanted to let you know that after reading through this site I adjusted the Credit card relaiming letter, to reclaim charges on my studio account.
I paid 4 days late over xmas (but the payment I made cleared my £18 balance) but they charged me £20 late fee that and every month since.
I e-mailed studio for any statements missing and within a week they were here
After they sent my account to debt co. (who when they rang me I told them I was not paying chgs. as they were unlawful and the balance reflected charges only, and a letter had been sent to them and studio)They were more than happy for the conversation to end.....
I sent them and studio the reclaim letter for all charges plus interest, and within 5 days I had a letter from studio, telling me they had refunded all charges and some how were sending me a £30 cheque as I was in credit !!!????
Many Thanks for what I found on here
PS..
I also reclaimed My bank charges from Natwest just before the hold and got back £1800.... (this was the amount less the interest that I was claiming but was not going to argue!!)0 -
Well done. I'm sure you'll not want to have a Studio account again. Crowd of sharks they are.0

I received my trading statements from Studio on Wednesday. I can't believe how much extra I've paid over the years!! After adding up all of the Administration fees they come to £826  , no wonder I still owe them so much.
I posted the first letter to them yesterday by first class recorded delivery and marked it for the Legal Department so fingers (and toes!) crossed.0 -

It's been a bone of contention I've had with them for a long time, but basically, I can't set up a direct debit because I'm on DMP's with all of my debtors (including the bank). Long story there!
The statments they send me usually arrive 3-4 days before the payment due date so if I pay them thorugh the bank as soon as the statement arrives it still takes 5 working days for the payment to show in my account so I get charged £20 for it.
Even if I pay them by phone I get charged more often than not because it still takes so many days to show on my account (apparently, well that's what they tell me over the phone!).
I've complained about this loads of times, I ask them about it every time I make my payment but they say the statement leaves their offices in plenty of time to reach me and I should contact Royal Mail and complain - which I have done but they say it's down to the sender so I've been going round in circles there.
They did remove the first couple of charges but refused to do so after that saying basically I was fibbing about when I was getting my statements - I haven't ordered anything from them since and have just been trying to pay it all off.
I used to have this with my Grattan account too, the statment date was the beginning of the month and it would take over 2 weeks from being produced to reaching my front door. I queried it with them too but got nowhere. Mind you I could pay Grattan online and that showed on my account the next day.0 -
