can i claim the admin fee from catalogues

wow, this is great, i have got old catalogues such as kays and littlewoods and also a studio cards. all of which were bought by a collection agency. so do i write direct to the the catalogues as they are the ones that charged me the admin charges in the first place. i am going to get onto this straight away. hopefully they will send me the copies of all the statements. they are very clever through as they dont call them late paymetn fees, but they call them ADMIN charges. hopefully i will get this sorted. i have already won with capital one, barclaycard, vanquis, and my husband has won with barclaycard, A and L. Still waiting to hear about Bank charges but worth the wait if we get anything back.0

Hi all
My elderly friend ordered £20 xmas lights from studio cards, she paid the full amount at the Post Office using "postal orders" due to the amount of time the postal orders took to clear, Studio cards recieved the payment 3 days late!.. anyways she received a letter saying she owed £40 late fee/admin charges ... she ignored the letter (thinking they had sent it before payment had been recieved) .. then she recieved another ... £60 .. she called them, thinking they had made a mistake; was told it was no mistake and she needed to pay £60....she was trying to get the £60 together when she recieved a letter stating she owes £80 ... Yesterday she recieved a letter from "moorcroft debt recovery limited" stating she has 7 days to pay £108.82 or legal action will be taken! the lady in question lives alone, recieves state pension and doesnt own any assets that she can sell etc .... can anyone advise the best course of action i can take for her? she's extremely upset and thinks she's going to end up in prison!
Many thanks."Do not look back and grieve over the past, for it is gone, and do not be troubled about the future, for it has yet to come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering"0 -
I think this is disgusting - could you not help her to write a letter to the customer services manager at Studio Cards? I think that you should also consider taking her to the CAB or Age Concern, they should know what to do. The local paper might be a good idea too, they usually have a consumer's rights page.
This might be a mistake on Studio's part, have they confirmed that they received the original payment? Does your friend have the receipt?

would sspeak with CAB for advice, it's all automatic charges and seems silly when payment was made three days past due date.
Alternatively you could write to moorcroft and advise them you are querying this sum of money and write to studio and ask they be waived.Payment a day challenge: £236.69
Jan Shopping Challenge: £202.09/£250
Frugal Living Challenge: £534.64/150000 -
They must have received the postal order before the due date. I woul threaten going to the newspaper or contacting watch dog. Ask them if they want that kind of publicity? They sound like SCUM.

look at the Sunday Sun web site, there is a columnist called Mr Justice
He is brilliant at this sort of thing and will sort it out in days, especiallyh with a big name like Studio Cards..Doestn matter where you are in the country,
a quick telephoen call from him usually sorts the matter out.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Many thanks for everyones advise, i've never dealt with anything like this before and she doent have any family members who can advise her so your advise is very valuable.confirmed that they received the original payment? Does your friend have the receipt?
I have just tried to call Studio on her behalf but was told due to "data protection" they can not discuss the account with me, unless the account holder is present! i will have to try and get to her home on Monday and try again!"Do not look back and grieve over the past, for it is gone, and do not be troubled about the future, for it has yet to come.
