  • Hi

    Can anyone advise...

My wife has an account with ACE catalogue's, we are finding it difficult to meet the minimum payment each month on time. Each time this company charges a huge £20.00 administration fee, her debt is £280. Are they allowed to get away with these charges?

Any help would be appreciated. :o

    Warm regards

    Steve

PS I have a new credit card with Abbey that has 13 months interest free credit on it, was not planning on using it only for emergencies, can I balance transfer with a catalogue company?

will be writing to them as well try get it back fror him

iirc they dont use royal mail

    Hi

my mum has been with freemans for over 30 years. She has always paid £80.00 each month on her catalogue for the last 5 years even though most of this time she didn't have to send that much.

The catalogue have now changed the way statements are done.
A statement is sent to my mum each month with a mimimum payment and a certain date that it has to be paid. Before this my mum had to do all the paperwork and just send her payment.

Last year she had a new Tv from the catalogue and her new payment this month is £151.00 which their is no way she can afford. They have also added on a charge of £12.00 for a late payment. They phoned her yesterday 3 TIMES wanting to know why full payment has not been received. The man she spoke to from freemans was very rude to her and she is quite upset about this, especially haveing been a loyal customer for over 30 years. She won't have anything out of this catalogue again - the catalogues went on the fire last night !!!!

Can anyone suggest what she can do about all of this, as she is really quite upset about it all.
    :confused::confused::confused:

    Thanks

    Hi All

Just wanted to update. I claimed backdated admin charges from 2 accounts I had with Littlewoods / Index. With interest it came to about £200.00.
Littlewoods refused both claims saying they were lawful and that the Onbudsman did not have jurisdiction over catalogue charges.
Anyway ... a half truth ....claimed to onbudsman anyway and they explain they have jurisdiction from April 2007 only. Anyway they have got me £80.00 and as my accounts are all clear thats a cheque in the post!!
    Good luck everyone

I have been charged a late payment fee of £12.00 on a catalogue account.
I have no outstanding balance on this account, only the late payment fee of £12.00.
My question is are these charges unlawful? I have informed them that I will not pay this charge and instructed them to close me account.
Just wondering if I have to pay this charge?
    Thanks:o

Did you pay late? Is it their fault or is it your's? If it is their fault then they are in the wrong they should say sorry and refund you, if it your's then you should say sorry to them and pay the £12. ;)

    hi

£12 late payment charge may be deemed a penalty but youll only know by taking it probably as far as court. this will cost court fees and a lot of effort. in this instance for £12 i think its best to, pay it, forget it and move on.
