Littlewoods paid me without a fight, but they have been a real pain to my friends.

The problem is, they have only been regulated by the FOS on charges since 6th april 2007, so they use this to their advantage, and say that the FOS cannot help.

I have still submitted my friends claims to the FOS, and will take any claim outside their juristiction to the courts if necessary.

hi tech, just wondering did u go to the fos ur self about ur littlewoods as i asked for my charges back, and they said no, so been waiting just to see if any 1 did get there charges back b4 i go ahead , was thinking about court route but ive just waited to see if littlewoods paid out cheers jill

    Hi

I am being hounded by a DCA called Reliable Collections who are part of Simply Yours Catalogue t/a J D Williams. I owe them about £120 and put this on hold when they refused to refund me for items i returned but they say they never received. Anyway they have now refunded me and in the meantime passed this on to reliable collections, I have just looked at my account online and my amount due has gone from £140.19 on Nov 20th 07 to £224.05 as of Feb 11 08. I have found the following charges and wonder if anyone thinks they are in the wrong.

Admin charges of £12 on the following dates:-

    06/10/2007 x 2 = £24
    03/11/2007 x 1 = £12
    01/12/2007 x 2 = £24
    30/12/2007 x 2 = £24
    28/01/2008 x 1 = £12
    09/02/2008 x 1 = £12

What are they playing at? I am ringing them first thing in the morning as they are closed at weekends.

oh I had such a nightmare with them.
they took so long in replying to letters and for some reason I had two accounts???
I got advice from someone on this thread who told me to keep emailing them daily... I finally got a cheque!
keep going and don't give up.. they kept saying no then suddenly with no warning the cheque arrived!

I want to try this with La Redoute - I did get a refund on an insurance type 'thingy' I was told it was for damaged clothing and I had brought some black clothing that faded within a month - I asked if I could get them replaced but they said no and the insurance money I was paying had nothing to do with damaged clothing... they gave me a refund even without me asking with 8% interest.. .guess they had a lot of people asking for their charges back... I feel a bit cheeky but I might add up those 'administration' charges to see how much (I never missed a payment and assumed those were like interest charges!)

good luck with your claim and don't give up

I have sent a letter to Look Again catalogue (same people as Grattan & Freemans) asking for a list of charges for the last 6 years. They have sent me 2 years of statements and this response:

'Please be advised that we do not, and are not required , to keep statements on file for six years. The Data Protection Act (principle 5) states "Personal data processed for any purpose or purposes shall not be kept for longer than is necessary for that purpose or purposes" We do, however, send our customers statements every month, and they may keep them as long as they wish'.

Is this right? Can they do this?

I thought they had to keep details of accounts for at least 6 years. I didn't actually ask them for copy statements but for a list of charges.

Court proceedings can be taken out against any company up to 6 years, so it is their responsibility to keep them for this period.
  • :o Hi just wanted to make sure I know where to send for data on my statements, late payment charges from catalogues. Is it invidually with £10 cheque to each cat company or to the data protection where I sent to get list of bank charges with cheque to?
  • I was checking statements from my Choice account over the years and have seen that my account number with them has changed three times. In light of this will I have to send 3 x £10 for each different account number change even though t has always been same account or just state the 3 different account numbers in one letter asking for the data regarding late charges??:o

I just stated my current number, but by all means mention all 3 account numbers to them.

But only one cheque for £10 is payable..

    Hi ya
What did you decide as I have now got three refusals from L/W. 1 for extra care advantage payments and 2 for differnt account late payment charges.

I am going to appeal and I am currently looking for a template some where. Basicly all thess charges clear my accounts and gives me a bit extra in my pocket.

I cant believe FOS cant help us.
