I am going to do the F.O. route, will let you know how I get on, although I expect it will be a while, but at least I might get some sense out of them!!...Lol....Watch out Littlewoods, cause here I come...Lol..:rotfl:Lilly

  • hi everyone,
i'm after the same info....except i need to claim from Empire! i've just got my latest bill, and i must admit, i'd forgotten about the previous one. they've charged me a £12 admin fee. from the little bit i'd read so far, it seems that reclaiming these charges is the same as for the bank charges...? i just want to make sure!!! there's probably been occasions in the past when the same charge has been applied, so if all these are unlawful i want my money back!!!
  • Just an update Littlewoods have repliedto my template letter within 10 days!!!.theres an investigation going on into my complaint about their charges so will give them a couple of weeks as they say when theyve investigated they will be in touch.See what cop out they come up with as when i spoke to them on the phone the girl at the call centre claimed no one ever got penalty charges back from Littlewoods.Heres waiting.....
  • Hi

I am being hounded by a DCA called Reliable Collections who are part of Simply Yours Catalogue t/a J D Williams. I owe them about £120 and put this on hold when they refused to refund me for items i returned but they say they never received. Anyway they have now refunded me and in the meantime passed this on to reliable collections, I have just looked at my account online and my amount due has gone from £140.19 on Nov 20th 07 to £224.05 as of Feb 11 08. I have found the following charges and wonder if anyone thinks they are in the wrong.

Admin charges of £12 on the following dates:-

    06/10/2007 x 2 = £24
    03/11/2007 x 1 = £12
    01/12/2007 x 2 = £24
    30/12/2007 x 2 = £24
    28/01/2008 x 1 = £12
    09/02/2008 x 1 = £12

What are they playing at? I am ringing them first thing in the morning as they are closed at weekends.
  • Hi
I have had a very similar problem with Reliable Collections through a different catalogue. I have disputed the same issue with the charges that they have unfairly put on my account. I have taken advice from the national debt line who have been really helpful and I'm currently going through the process of disputing these charges. Their website is www.nationaldebtline.co.uk. If you give them a call they should be able to advise you too. The lady I spoke to agreed that the charges didn't sound right.
I have found the staff from reliable collections very rude and unhelpful. I asked them for a copy of a credit agreement for months and it was only recently that they informed me that it would need to be in writing. I am now only dealing with them this way as most of the staff have no knowledge of what is going on or even what company they are (Reliable collections are part of the same company as most of these catalogues!)
Also, I'm sure they can't be closed at weekends because they keep calling me on sundays!

    Good Luck!
  • Hi

They like to call you at the weekend but won't accept calls in. Their rather iritating automated services informs you that we are shut today!!

However, I rang yesterday and got quite a reasonable lady who listened to me when I told her I would not be paying anything on my account until I had challenged my charges. She blabbed on about how I hadn't paid anything for over 6 months which I totally agree with and that not only was i being charged £12 for each month I didn't pay but that I was also being charged £12 for each letter they sent me telling I was being charged £12 for the non payment!! I said I was prepared to settle my account if they refunded some of the charges. After being on hold while she "looked into this" I was told they would reduce my balance from £224.05 to £128.05 (my original balance before charges was £140.19!) if I paid before 17 March, I couldn't believe how easy it was. Anyway I paid it off today and they confirmed I had a £0 balance and this would show on my next statement.

May be I was just lucky. :j
