Hi geminibabe. Yes - email is definately the way to go. Give them the mentioned time. Then email them every single day until they get sick of hearing from you. In most cases these companies just pay up without even acknowledging your emails. So take great pleasure in !!!!ing them off for a change! Good luck.
  • Hi,

Hoping somebody might be able to help me?..... I'm trying to claim admin charges from Littlewoods.
They have now sent me back the list of charges but they sent it in the middle of September but due to family crisis's etc Ive been unable to do any more about it until now...(is it too late??)

Basically they have sent me back a list of charges and the letter also says.................

" It is made clear in the "your account" section at the back of your catalogue that a charge is applied should you fail to make a payment, and as such I am satisfied that the charges applied to your account are fair and reasonable.

We are aware of the statement of the OFT's position regarding fair charges. For the reasons given above, we are satisfied that the charges applied to your account are justifiable in accordance with the views of the OFT and are fair within the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations. In the circumstances, the company is not prepared to remove the administration charges applied to your account.

As your clients complaint is in relation to an event before 6th April 07 unfortunately, you are unable to refer your client's complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) as credit complaints did not come under its jurisdiction until this date. I feel it is appropriate to point out that, if you do decide to refer to FOS, it is unlikely that they will consider your clients complaint. However, they will require you to confirm that we have issued a final response, and to that end you may consider thsi letter as our final response.

I confirm that this letter concludes our investigations into your complaint. I trust our explanation meets with your satisfaction. "

So is there still hope for me?............And if so what is it I need to do?

I recently claimed back my charges from barclays and hoping I can successfully claim my catalogue charges back too.

Thank you so much if you can help!!!

This is fine - it is a standard letter. It just tells you that it is their final response. You now have to make the decision to either to take them to court or go via the FO. As they have given you a final decision the FO can look into it. It will not be quick but it is free. I would estimate around 3 months (from past experience), to get a final decision from them. Alternatively the court route is quicker and is not covered by the OFT ruling, however some postings here and there do seem to be saying that on the odd occassion stays are being applied for non current account claims.

Therefore make tthe decision and sit back and wait. Good luck.
  • I've read all the info on reclaiming credit card charges. I was wondering if this also included catalogue charges, or things with credit agreements such as mobile phones etc?

Also, does this include missed payment charges? Or just late payment/over limit charges?

  • What about charges for joint accounts, when the joint account is no longer open and you are no longer with your partner. Can you go about claiming those?

    first time poster

i have a catlog debt with littlewoods, my fault i was late with a few payments so they trasferred the debt to nationwide debt recovery, agreed a £45 monthly payment programme which i stuck to.

a couple of times due to kids work etc was a couple of days late paying rang them up "no problem we will reset that for you"

anyway last month my son had to have an operation, i tried ringing them (0870 number) on hold for ages worried about phone bill so wrote to them explaining i would be paying but a bit late, which i did by cheque

anyway get a letter from littlewoods telling me to contact them letter dated 14/08/07 got it on 3rd sept!!

got a letter from nationwide debt recovery today telling me i was an "evasive debtor" and adding a £20 charge which they would waive if i rang them with payment and my phone number

i rang littlewoods who said it was "outrageous" i had had so many resets on my arrangements and they said they thought i should have to go to court and general abuse, then put me through to nationwide debt recovery who demanded the whole amount i said no, then said we will accept £78 a month, i said no i cant afford that offering the previous £45 a month i had been paying, she said yes if you pay 2 months this month i said no, she said i can only allow you to pay £45 for 2 months then we will review your account, i asked what that would mean, she said that it will probably be passed on to someone else

is that a good thing or bad??? i think the £20 charge is outrageous also calling me an evasive debtor i have always paid them and am insulted

    any ideas???

    Hi

    First Time Poster also.

Just wanted to share a little inside info on Nationwide Debt Collection ... worked for Littlewoods for years!!

They are not a "Debt Collection Agency", they are just Littlewoods collections. Same Office, Same Staff ..... just different telephone number.

Handy little flasher on phone tells staff whether you are calling Collections, Nationwide, Index, Littlewoods ... whatever!!!

Don't be intimidated, they have no more power than Littlewoods Collections ... just sound more frightening.

    Good Luck xxx

I wrote to Littlewoods on the second week of September, and they've only just sent me a letter back saying they will give a full response on the 29th of November  That would be three months since I first sent the letter.

By law, do I have to wait for their 'full response' or shall I just threaten court action right now instead?

They're the cheekiest bunch of     I have ever dealt with
